My daughter loves this mermaid barbie! i ordered it for her mermaid themed 7th birthday party gift. The tail lights up in different patterns. Once it's in the water the movement of the tail fin makes the tail light up. Love this barbie mermaid. My 4 year old adores her. My daughter uses her in baths and showers. The light part has held up so far. And we've had her for almost 4 months. And we bath/shower regularly, lol. I plan to take this mermaid barbie to disneyworld with us and any vacation for that matter where we will be swimming. . I try to take this mermaid barbie out and make sure she is rinsed and dried off in between showers/baths (just like any other toy) but even more bc of the lights. I keep getting worried that the light will stop working and the battery area will get corroded. But so far, so good. And there have been times when i haven't taken her out of the shower and still no issues even though she's in there when others shower so she's getting more water than just when our 4 yr old is showering. . Barbie mermaid's hair has also held up well. Doesn't get tangled and all that like other barbies we have so that is an additional plus. I also kept her tiara in by not cutting away the plastic tags that keep the crown attached to her head. On another mermaid barbie (not this lighted one) we did cut the tags and the tiara doesn't stay on at all and i'm always afraid it'll go down the drain if we use it in the bath/shower. . Overall, the lighted barbie mermaid is a hit and has held up! i'll probably buy another if we ever need to get another one. -F. Finch

This was such a good buy at the time i bought these barbie doll clothes (99 cent) that i could not resist buying him since all my great-granddaughters are into barbies. My grandson, their dad, tells me that when the clothes arrived that the girls instantly started playing with them. So i guess the children are happy with them and that was the best reason to buy them!

Best barbie rainbow lights mermaid doll (dhc40) in review

I waited until this was a cheap price on online store before i purchased. This is a huge hit during bath time. My daughter now requests the lights to be off during her bubble bath so she can play with her mermaid. The lights are very bright and work great under water. The crown does not come off so you do not have to worry about losing it in the tub, or outside of it for that matter. Her hair also dries and stays very soft after each bath, which was surprising. Overall i am very pleased with this purchase and have no complaints.

My daughter is full swing into the barbie phase. Why not have a barbie you can take into the bath too? this mermaid barbie ended up being a great choice. Her lights are awesome, she's great in the water, and she still has the normal barbie hair that you can brush and style. She works well both in and out of water. . She's so simple to use, a very young kiddo could make her lights work. She has a necklace that's also a button. You press the button and barbie lights up. Easy as that! once you've pressed the button to get her out of power save mode, she also lights up when you put her in the water (no need to press the button again). . She doesn't have a motor or anything that makes her swim. A child needs to hold onto her to make her move in the water. . I recommend not cutting the ties that hold the crown onto her head. If you do, the crown will never stay again. . Great bath time fun for a barbie fan!

Watch this video. . . . . This is a great product that lights up when you push the necklace and when it gets wet. The batteries are also safely secured with a screw and waterproof for young children. My 1 year old is not into barbies yet, but she loves this barbie because it lights up. Also for parents concerned about choking hazards the only part that needs to be removed for safety is the tiara, which is easy to take off. Nothing else besides the removable tiara on this barbie is a choke hazard. Highly suggested for toddlers that are new to playing with barbies because its both safe and stimulating.

I bought this for my 4 year old little mermaid granddaughter for easter. She's so into mermaids right now i thought it would be a great present. She was thrilled. She loves the way it lights up when you press the necklace. But it's even more exciting when she takes it with her in the bath and the mermaid lights up all by itself once it hits the water. I have had no problems with the lights not working either inside or outside of water. But would suggest if you get this, don't take the shipping ties off of the crown or you will loose the crown. I left the packaging ties on and the crown remains on her head. My granddaughter can still comb her hair without having to remove the crown.

This doll is so pretty. She's one of those that you wish you had as a kid growing up. I think i was more excited to open it than my daughter. Her hair is the coolest part of this barbie. You know how if you swim with your hair down, it gets all tangled and messy? barbie has magic hair that flows underwater and somehow stays gorgeous when it dries. It's all silky, too. Love this mermaid barbie! this is my 4 year olds new favorite bath toy. She loves mermaids and dolls in general, and this barbie covers both of those. She loves the lights and her tail. . I do wish her crown stayed on better. It came with two tags holding the crown on her, and i decided not to clip them so that the crown would stay on her. But even with the tags holding the crown to her head, it still moves around. . I am also worried about the water sensors on her back and if they will erode eventually. I'm making sure that after every bath she gets set out to dry well in hopes that it will keep her in working order. So far so good, but she's only had it for a week. . Overall this is a very fun barbie doll especially if your little likes mermaids.
