Review for coup rebellion card

Price was $20.31. Excellent expansion on the original game; the different powers and combinations keep it fresh and interesting. The packaging sucks though; too many slots inside with confusing layout and not enough dividers to make sense.

Coup rebellion g54 card game Review (541ibc)

Interesting upgrade from the basic version of coup, but once in a while we miss the old rules. There are cards that have similar roles as those in the initial version of coup, but not all of the roles carryover. One of the big changes we noticed was the absence of the contessa. Now the roles that kill other roles are able to block themselves. Overall it's a fun shakeup of a great game. I like the customization to the game play to keep the game fresh and different each time you play. -C. Pearce

This introduces a ton of new characters with a bunch of new features. It's a slightly more involved version of coup. Just make sure you're familiar with all the roles (meaning the 5 you choose to play with) before you start. If someone keeps glancing at the various roles, they're probably bluffing."

Coup The Dystopian Universe

I don't really grade games on artwork or durability. I just care about the game play, and this game is incredibly fun. I first played with three people and we laughed super hard while playing. It's a bluffing game, but you aren't actually betting, like in poker, so it's just pure fun and doesn't feel competitive. I've also played a bunch of two-player games and enjoyed that, too. I love the fact that a hand is so quick ( 5 minutes), so it's not a big commitment to start playing. You can just stop whenever. . When first learning, it may seem like there are a lot of rules, but after one evening it is easy to internalize them. Anyway, the game has a bunch of summary cards to hand out to players, and the cards themselves say what they can do. What makes the game so fun is that the cards have such incomparable powers, yet in the end it's pretty well balanced-whatever cards you start with can be a winning hand if you play it right, bluff at the right time, and aren't too unlucky about what the other player has. You can lie flagrantly and often get away with it, but when a ridiculous bluff is uncovered, it invariably cracks everybody up. Again, because no money is at stake and you typically play a bunch of independent hands in an evening without keeping score, it's just super light-hearted fun. . My friends and i now sometimes play coup with a regular deck of cards, too, just using 10, j, q, k, a of three suits for our 15 cards, so you don't really *need* the official game. But you should support the brilliant people who designed this game by buying the very reasonably priced original version. Plus with the official version you'll get to enjoy the playing cards that say what they do and the summary cards that help you learn the game and the special coup coins that feel more appropriate than poker chips.

In the not too distant future, the government is run for profit by a new "royal class" of multi-national ceos. Their greed and absolute control of the economy has reduced all but a privileged few to lives of poverty and desperation. Out of the oppressed masses rose the resistance, an underground organization focused on overthrowing these powerful rulers. The valiant efforts of the resistance have created discord, intrigue and weakness in the political courts of the noveau royal, bringing the government to brink of collapse. But for you, a powerful government official, this is your opportunity to manipulate, bribe and bluff your way into absolute power. To be successful, you must destroy the influence of your rivals and drive them into exile. In these turbulent times there is only room for one to survive.

Coup Dystopian Universe (Indie Boards Cards) FAQ.

I was skeptical about this game because i hate games like resistance and avalon, where a few people have special abilities but everyone else has nothing to do except solve the puzzle. I can't express how much i hate these games. But my husband had read about coup and wanted to give it a try, and for the price (online store was having a board-game sale), i couldn't refuse. . The premise is simple and it's very easy to teach new players. Every player has a role (two, in fact), and those roles can change depending on what happens. You can fake being any role, which is the whole point: fake out your opponents so they don't know who you are. Play is fast and simple; you can get through a few games in an hour. Everyone i played this with loved it and had a good time. I have no complaints and highly recommend this as a party game and an alternative to any others who think resistance is meh! -Notice from I. This card game will change your life. I first heard about this game when my cousin purchased this game from kickstarter and he played it with me. I was instantly hooked. For the next two years i put off getting this game until i saw it pop up as a deal of the day on online store and remembered how fun it was. I bought it and man was i not disappointed. I proceeded to play this fifteen minute game for 4 hours with my friends. Coup is a mix of poker and an intense strategy game. The whole game revolves around who can sell a bluff and outsmart their opponent. I strongly recommend this game to all looking to have a blast with friend and family or to challenge that pesky enemy of yours to the ultimate iq test. . If this helped you at all please hit the yes button below this review. It means a lot to me and i appreciate your support. Thanks!

- H. YvetteCoup: 2-6 players, ages 10+, average play time 15 minutes. . One might scoff at the fact that there s only fifteen cards in the entire game, making the content feel rather light. On the other hand, one could come to appreciate how the game mechanics tie everything together to give it its bang for the buck. I was admittedly skeptical at first $12 for fifteen cards and some plastic coins? what gives? once i actually looked at the rules however and saw just how many actions you could take per turn, i began to see the possibilities both in terms of strategy and bluffing. . I have a feeling that this game won t appeal to people who don t play a lot of poker, or any card game for that matter that encourages people to bluff when their back is against the wall. Coup works better when you have a lot of people playing, but it can and does function as a two player game just fine. My suggestion is that if you do end up playing with four or more players, that you secretly remove a card from the deck so as to prevent people from counting cards as they figure out who has who. . What appeals to me most is the quick play time, what with the recent changes that have come about in my household. Coup allows me to flex my brain without committing myself to an hour or two to some heavy abstract strategy game. It also tests my memory a bit, especially when my opponents use three different character actions in one round without exchanging cards which was the lie? do they know that i caught them? what actions have i taken again and didn t someone use the duke recently to block foreign aid? you see where this is going. Anywho, i found coup to be great as a filler or something to bring out at parties. My recommendation is to give it a spin!

Coup is a crowd-pleaser, there's no denying. This quick, little card game handles 2 to 6 players and can be played in fifteen minutes or less, making it a great addition to game nights. It is best played with five to six playes and it's fairly easy to pick up. It also comes with six handy reference cards to make learning the game even easier. . The object of the game is to bluff your way to victory. In a far-flung future where the majority of the population is poor and oppressed, only a select few wield power and wealth. You will draw two cards which you will keep secret from your opponents and you will either use their actions or claim you have other cards instead so you can use their actions. The catch? if someone else challenges you and you can't show you have the character to justify the action you just took, you lose influence. If you do have the applicable character, the person challenging loses an influence. Losing an influence is defined as you turning over one of your cards face up, thus losing access to one action. If you lose all your influence, meaning both your cards are face up, you're exiled and you lose. Be the last man standing to win. . The game consists of 15 character/action cards and a bag of money tokens, as well as the six reference cards cited earlier, making it simple to cart around. Coup was a big hit at my game night, with people liking it a lot or flat-out loving it. It's a great way to practice your poker face, because you'll need a good one to win.

Resistance Hidden Agenda Card Game

Great expansion to the original resistance; the main attraction being the same roles found in resistance: avalon while keeping the theme of the base game. Adds a lot of more fun and tension to an already great game. The various characters and modes also allow you to adjust the difficulty for one side (spies or resistance) to level things out if one side is always winning. Got great feedback from gamers and non-gamers alike so i highly recommend this for fans of the resistance.

An expansion to the resistance universe that adds fun new ways to play resistance! , assassin module: the resistance avalon roles ported to the resistance universe, defector module: players can switch allegiances during the game. , trapper module: bigger mission teams.

Resistance Hidden Agenda Card Game (Indie Boards Cards) FAQ.

Heck of a lot of fun but it really depends on the group you're playing with. If you have a bunch of filthy casualsin your group, you'll have a frustrating time trying to win on the resistance side. If you want reliable fun with less rowdiness, try coup (also by same company). -Notice from V. Guest, Walsall

- J. BettyI love the resistance and this expansion pack will indeed spice things up. I paid for a one day delivery but it still arrived after two days, early in the morning. I was okay with it since i needed this on friday night and today's thursday. Thanks! my friends and i will have more fun this upcoming party on friday. :)

This is a great expansion to the game it adds excitement back into the game. Since i usually only have a group of 5 to play with adding commander and assassin makes the game interesting again. My only complaint and why i can't give it 5 stars is the back of the card are darker in this expansion than they are in the original game so sometimes people could tell who was who or narrow it down at least. We ended up hiding our cards in our pockets so that wouldn't happen but we still had issues when we passed them out. Ended up buying card covers and now nobody knows what is what!

The Resistance: Avalon Social Deduction Game

The resistance: avalon pits the forces of good and evil in a battle to control the future of civilization. Arthur represents the future of britain, a promise of prosperity and honor, yet hidden among his brave warriors are mordred's unscrupulous minions. These forces of evil are few in number but have knowledge of each other and remain hidden from all but one of arthur's servants. Merlin alone knows the agents of evil, but he must speak of this only in riddles. If his true identity is discovered, all will be lost.

The Resistance The Dystopian Universe

This game is addicting and so much fun for ages 10+. The teenagers at the summer camp i run especially found it fun. . The short version of how it works: everyone gets an identity (spy or resistance member). Spies get to see who the other spies are, resistance members are clueless. You take turns choosing people to go on missions hoping that you don't have a spy among your group. Everyone on that mission turns in a pass or fail card. The spies are trying to get missions to fail, and resistance members are trying to pass the missions. You have 5 mission rounds to battle it out. . The first round or two playing with new people is always pretty quiet and awkward, but once everyone catches on to how to play, and opens up the game becomes a blast! it's been a great ice breaker for us, and it's got the kids talking and making friends with each other. All while being deceitful, calling others out for being spies, but overall having fun! . . It's definitely more fun the more people you have, but it's still playable with only 5.

The resistance is a very intense social deduction game for 5-10 players. While it shares similiarities with games like werewolf, mafia and even battlestar galactica it has many very unique features such as a quick 30 minute play time, no moderator required and no player elimination.

The resistance is a very fun and even addicting social deduction game. I say addicting because you will feel disappointed and maybe even a bit sad when your friends or family bail on you and you no longer have enough people at your game night or gaming event to play it. I have found that people seem to either love the resistance or they hate it. Luckily for me most of my friends and family love the game. The few people that i do know that hate the game tend to be the people who like low to no skill chance based games. I'm not saying there is anything terrible about chance based games that require very little to no skill to play, i have several in my board and card game case. And i'm not saying that you have to be skilled or anything to play and enjoy the resistance it is just a vague observation that my husband and i have made. I think part of the love/hate is because the type (and quality) of the game play can vary greatly depending on the type of people you are playing with. Some games i've played i could easily describe as stressful (the games with that guy who always yells and takes everything too seriously or the games with that couple that are constantly at each others throats) and some games could be described as formulaic and dry (the games with that couple that are easily confused and don't like to have to think about what they are playing or the game with that guy that takes notes on how people voted). I have also found that when people don't care about the outcome of the game at all regardless of if they are a spy or not tend to bring the mood down and make the game play feel flat as they don't or will rarely contribute to any of the dialogue. Overall it is a very fun game if you can get 5 or more people together. A little tip i have for more fun game play is to early on set the tone for the game and call someone a dirty filthy spy and glance suspiciously around at others as well as whenever you can try and bring some discussion into the game play. On another note the card and tile art is very nice, better than many of my other card and board games. Also, after a week or two of owning the game i bought both expansions (that is how much my family and friends liked it) but i would recommend those for when your group is comfortable with the base set. Another thing i found is too not overdo it on the game (like playing it every game night for hours) as it can be intimidating and stressful for some players and it is better to ease up on the game than to cause a family member or a regular at a game night to hate the game and drop out.

- M. DorothyThis game was my introduction into the addicting world of social deception games, and whenever my friends have get togethers, we ensure there's at least one copy of the game present (there's at least three floating around our friend group). I like to describe it to people who have never played as "mafia or werewolf on steroids. " it's so easy to get passionate about convincing everyone that you're right while playing, and for us, there's one infamous round that went down in history as the one that almost ended friendships two years ago. I must have played this game hundreds of times, and just a few things that have happened while playing: we've been yelled at to quiet down by ras, i now always take advil pre-emptively because i always end up with a headache from screaming at other players to convince them of one thing or another, and can you really say that you've played until at least one person is standing on top of a chair, pointing fingers, and proclaiming their innocence? . . So the game works with cards being randomly and secretly distributed to every player that assign them to either the resistance (good) or the spies (bad). There are up to five missions, and whichever team claims the majority of the misisons is the winner. If only it were that easy. For each mission, the leader (a role that shifts each mission) selects a certain number of players, the whole group votes to approve or reject the leader's choice, and if it's approved, each player on the mission gets a success and a fail card. If you're good, you submit a success card face-down to a pile in the middle. If you're bad, you have the option of submitting either a success or a fail card. When everyone on the mission has submitted their cards, they're shuffled and revealed. The mission passes if there's all successes and fails when there's a fail. But if there's a fail . Who on the mission was the spy who put it in? let the lying and interrogating begin . . I think in our group we've played with every configuration from 5 to 10 players, and it's definitely a lot more fun with more players, but you just have to make sure that everyone's paying attention as the group gets bigger. It's no fun if someone's on their phone while everyone else is arguing and theorizing, it almost feels like you're lacking information. I'd say 7+ players is the most fun. You also have to stress for players not to cheat if they're good by putting a fail card in the middle just to be funny . It really confuses the game and makes it less satisfying for everyone else. Have patience while explaining the game the first time around; sometimes it's even worth it to do a practice round because some of the nuances don't quite make sense until the game is happening. It's very easy to pick up, though, and the games can go by in about 15 minutes depending on how much arguing between rounds is done. . I've seen a lot of comparisons favoring either the resistance or avalon, but i do love both in their own ways. I enjoy that the resistance has plot cards that get distributed at the beginning of rounds, which can sometimes get players feeling more involved. The characters in avalon are a blast, but sometimes if you're stuck without a special role, it's not as fun. With the resistance, at least, you can convince the leader to give you plot cards so you can have some sort of "special ability". It's true that the expansion packs adds the character features of avalon to the resistance, but really, you can't go wrong with either and especially not with both. . Pro tip: i'd recommend getting card sleeves for this game. The ones with one clear side and one opaque side are great for the character cards because you can face the character toward the opaque side so that if they accidentally fall off the table, no one's at risk of seeing your character. It also keeps everything in great shape so you don't have any character cards identifiable by folds or scratches. . Buy this game. It never gets old, and i honestly don't think i've met anyone who's played and not enjoyed it. Very worth the money and, trust me, it'll become a staple of your get togethers quite quickly, too.

Original review:. I like this game, don't get me wrong. I've heard glowing praise for it from the dice tower and several friends, and many people even put it on their top ten lists. I've played quite a few rounds, but with regards to this particular version, i feel like it's a bit disappointingly simple. . In this game (you need at least five players), you are all members of a resistance, fighting against a corrupt government. However, the government is on to you, and has planted spies in your midst. Now, you must choose your players to go on missions, and hopefully, you and your true allies can determine who is a spy or not, because even one failure on a mission will cause it to flop. . To add interest to the game, the kids and i would come up with wacky missions, such as the government planning to seize all of the world's ice cream, and it being up to the resistance to drop john cena over the helicopter with said ice cream so he can blow it up with an elbow drop. That's really fun. You vote and discuss based on what happens, and an inquisitor can even come into play to check on certain members! . . However, i really think that this game could stand to benefit from additional roles/powers to each member of the team, which is why i recommend using the expansion with the cards (look for the box with the smiling girl on it. ) to be totally honest, they could have easily combined both that and the inquisitor expansion into one box (the inquisitor is nary but a single tile in the entire game. ) it's a fun light game, but not so much in terms of replay ability for me. . Edit:. . So, i've had a few playthroughs with my gaming group, and i take it back. This is a game that runs on personality and guile, and it has grown on me considerably. I do thoroughly enjoy playing with groups that like to mamaguy each other (myself included) and i would say that if you are playing with people who don't have much of a personality to draw upon, the game will fall flat on its face. . As such, i will give this game the five stars that it deserves, up from three. Good game, but needs an animated crowd to run well.

Coup Reformation expansion

Good expansion, but not blown away. I play coop as a quick and easy to digest game between other heavy games. I like that it comes with another class (inquisitor) but in the rules they are to replace one of the other classes (ambassador). . Pros:. - decent expansion with great art. - fits in the original box. - team mechanic addition sounds like it will help large games. . Cons:. - cheap cardboard box and is not a replacement for the old box. - new class replaces old class instead of adding to the classes

Driven by their successes, the resistance has gained popular support and entire regions are in open rebellion. In a desperate attempt to stay in control, some government leaders are publicly supporting the reforms demanded by the resistance. But allegiances are constantly shifting, and can be bought for the right price. The opportunity for intrigue and bluff has never been greater. The cost of failure couldn't be higher. Even with the reformation, only one can survive.

Coup Reformation Expansion (Indie Boards Cards) FAQ.

Great expansion to a game that is, quick to play when everyone knows the rules. Takes just a few rounds to learn, with each round lasting about 20 minutes the first few times. Once you get a hang of the game, the gameplay is typically quick and enjoyable. The game always changes based on the people playing. My family has now made this a go to game when we all get together -Notice from P. Donna, West Berkshire

Needed for larger groups of players. The new inquisitor is nice, but the guide cards that cover the inquisitor aren't as nice as the old ones so it's not as easy for new players. It would have been better for them to include an optional new role instead of a replacement for the ambassador as it can confuse some who played the original. The embezzling mechanic isn't that great and adds unnecessary complexity to an otherwise simple game. One of the best parts of the game was it's simplicity to teach, but the added complexity changing what the yellow card does, and adding a few other minor mechanics to large group games is not an improvement. I'd almost recommend just buying a second set of the base cards instead of this, but the alliance cards are nice for very large groups. . Don't get me wrong, these are minor complaints and it's still a great game.

- N. CampbellDuring my 18 year old sons graduation party - just for fun and wanting to try a new game for the group - the teens went to game store nearby and bought this coup card game - they had such a blast with this (played this for several hours) that the next morning - i immediately got on online store and ordered the expansion pack. We rec'd this quickly (love prime - rec'd in 2 days). . My son browsed the expansion pack and is looking forward to sharing this with his friends. It's very entertaining for me to watch and listen to the creative imaginations these young adults have with games like this.

If you're a fan of coup, the expansion is a must-have! . . In addition to increasing the number of possible players from 6 to 10, it adds another element of alliances which adds a whole other level of strategy to the game and decreases the time it would normally take for assassinations to occur. Adding elements like this aren't always successful (namely tsuro expansions) but in this case the game is more enjoyable and depth is added without making the game overly complex or random. . At it's heart, coup is a simple bluffing game, and the expansion doesn't change that.

Best coup rebellion g54 card game (indie boards cards) in review

Coup rebellion is actually a re-theme of a foreign licensed version of coup called guatemala 1954, placing the roles back in the original coup universe. The rules are nearly identical to coup except that foreign aid is gone. No one i've played with so far has missed that as it's the option least often picked in the base game. . For those who aren't familiar with coup, there are five roles in play at any given time each with a different ability. Everyone has two to start with, but no one else knows what you have. You can claim to have any role that you like, and if no one challenges you, you can use it, even if you were bluffing. If someone challenges your claim, you lose one of your cards permanently if you were bluffing, and they lose one if you were telling the truth. Anyone who accumulates enough money can straight up remove a card from play without anyone being able to stop it, so the clock is ticking. It's all about bluffing, deduction, and mind games. . Coup rebellion complicates things by having 25 different roles. You still only play with five at a time, but you never know exactly what kind of combinations will be possible. In order to keep things balanced, they are divided in to categories-financial that lets you get money, force that lets you spend money to try to take out a player's card, communications that lets you exchange your cards with the deck or a player, and special interest, who does all kinds of wacky things. The first three categories are basically just variations of the classic coup roles with the change that attacks now defend against themselves. The variations may seem slight, but can make a huge difference in how players react to them and each other. . All in all, i would recommend this primarily to those who love the original coup, know it well, and would like a fresh take on it. It might be a bit too confusing for new players, although there's a basic setup similar to the original coup that can be used for new players. Also note that the total lack of a cheat sheet for the players due to sheer number of roles, can make things a bit more difficult. There are roles cards that go in the center of the table in order to serve the same purpose, but merely looking at them can give things away, so players in my group tended to try to not look at them.

Great indie card game for a crowd. Lots of strategy and play options.

S. Sally, Kentucky

It's coup, but with a ton of variety. You'll play this the first time and feel overwhelmed. Play again and again with the same set of roles. You can't get a good feel for this game if you change roles every round. After your fourth or fifth round with the same cards, you'll find your combinations. You'll feel good. And then change it up by only swapping out one of the roles. Try again. If you just pick all new roles every single game, you'll never get comfortable and you'll probably put this on the shelf and never play again.

Someone brought the kick starter version and i had a blast so i got this one. Same game as the kick starter version, but the kick starter one was a tad nicer. . Game is quick to pick up and seems to have a whole bunch of options. As a group we voted on which card we liked the least and swapped it out with another to keep things interesting and fun.

H. Newell, Delaware

This game is absolutely fantastic. If you love the original coup, and the expansion, you'll like this. Setup is basically the same, but takes a little longer, especially right when you get it, because the cards all need to be kept organized. Basically there are variations of each role, and they can be mixed and matched in various ways to change the game up a bit. It'll throw a different dynamic out each time you play, and it'll keep it new and fresh for a long time to come.

B. Diana, New Jersey says

Fun game. Cards could be sturdier, and the box the game comes in is huge compared to the actually game. I enjoy it more than the original "coup" because the game goes for a little longer, and there are many more options in terms of cards/variants. Worth picking up if you like card/board games with friends and the idea of "bluffing" and "secrets" sounds fun to you.

My family adores this game. It plays very quickly and is a lot of fun. The only complaint we have is card durability; given that this is a bluffing game, the wear patterns on the cards make it difficult to bluff. Card protectors recommended due to their card delicacy.

W. Patton, Oklahoma says

Amazing game!

Y. Lara, Suffolk

If you've played coup, this is just a better version of that. Very good.
