Review for channel rc quadcopter

Price was $31.70. I had one of these last year to learn on. There are many youtube videos online that will help you get the little things right with this model. The instructions that come with especially for a newb can be a bit confusing. Those youtube vids are what got me up and flying with. The first thing to know is that you really need a minimum of four batteries. They only last around 5-7 minutes each. Next and most important of all, always remember which way you are standing and how the drone is lined up. If you get turned around at all, you think you are pushing forward but as you or the drone turned now when you push instead it goes to the left, right or backwards. This is a very basic device a quadcopter not a drone. So there is no gps or return to home function. My little hubsan i got turned around one day, panicked and long story short it now sits at the bottom of a nearby pond. Also it doesn't handle wind well. That said this is imho the best way to learn cheaply how to fly and much of what you learn can then translate and be used on other, better and more sophisticated remote flyers. Losing a $40 quad no big deal. Losing a drone like the xiro xplorer or dji or yuneec not something anyone wants to experience.

Prologue

This thing is excellent. It was my first venture into quadcopters and now it has helped to start an addiction. I now have this flight control board (the "brain") in a carbon micro h frame and i'm running dark edition motors. It makes the original fly like a beast! planning on a spektrum fpv build in the near future. . I strongly suggest picking up extra larger batteries right away. I got the 380 mah batteries for the best balance between added flight time and extra weight to lug around. They give me about 8+ minutes of flight indoors racing around my apartment and hovering, landing, and taking off again. They give about 4-5 minutes flying outdoors at or near full throttle. The original batteries give much less flight time. Once upgrading motors i had to go with the 750 mah nano techs, the originals and the 380s just can't put out enough power fast enough. . I had a small issue right away with the stock quad - a motor died after about 5 flights. I picked up a new motor for about $5 and it took a minute to solder the connections onto the fc board, and it was back in the air. . This little quad is good enough as a nearly throwaway toy as-is, and it's also great as a base for a more serious micro quad build. There's so much aftermarket support for these things now you just can't go wrong with it. Hubsan X4 H107l 4 Channel 2.4ghz Rc Quadcopter, Black Review (61144)

I ordered mine today (06/15/15) from battery superstore via prime free same day shipping. I ordered in the morning before work, and had the package waiting for me by the time i got home! they sent the correct model & brand w/ led's and rubber feet. I immediately flew it right out of the box to check if it was the real deal or not. Perfect! it flew great, with a tiny bit of trimming. . This is my 3rd x4, so i think it's a great little quad. I'm not going to write anything about this little guy that hasn't been said already, so i'll just end with a+ to battery superstore & online store prime same day shipping! i was loyal to prime before, but this may just make me an addict to their service. -K. This is a great beginner quad. It flies pretty good and agile. I would definitely advise getting extra propellers and batteries to have more flight time. I practice a lot on this little quad inside the house so installing the blade guard was a great idea. I highly recommend this drone as you're very first one especially if you have not played with any rc before. I have crashed this thing multiple times and replaced props and this thing is still flying pretty good.

Click to see NoticeHubsan X4 H107l 4 Channel 2.4ghz Rc Quadcopter, Black (61144)"Trust my advice and save yourself a lot of time researching, this isn't a paid review. If you are looking for your first quadcopter to learn to fly with look no further, you found it, it's the hubsan x4 h107l. This thing is amazing, easy to fly and super cheap. I spent countless hours researching and watching youtube videos to figure out what quadcopter was the perfect quadcopter to learn to fly with and i came to the conclusion that this was the best beginner wuad. I just recieved mine today and i'm extremely impressed! i have owned multiple other quads in the past that i wasn't ever able to learn to fly. I gave up on flying quads after failing in the past. But this one is so easy to fly in beginner mode. I'm still in beginner mode becuase i'm still learning. But i'm also aware of how impressive this quad is outdoors when it's in expert mode, i'm looking forward to flying fast and mastering expert mode outdoors. This quads flight characteristics and technology are like the ultra high speed racing quads, so if you master flying this quad you would then be able to safely fly the expensive racing quads that go 50+mph or 80+ mph. . Things that i purchased off online store with mine that i highly recommend. 1. Turnigy 5 pack of 380mah batteries with a 5 in 1 charger for $20 (enough batteries to fly it and have fun). 2. Propeller guard and 5 sets of replacement propellers for $8 (propeller guard protects your propellers so you don't waste time replacing them). 3. $25 carrying case to keep everything together in a nice package and ready to go (not needed at all, but it's nice to have)."

ThinkMax 4-in-1 4 Battery Charger Hubsan By Thinkmax

This is a great little charger for the hubsan x4 style batteries. The connectors are tight but they work great. I've found a little wiggling when connecting helps a lot. It has performed amazing wether it was charging 1, 2, or 4 batteries. It consistently charges my batteries to 4. 2v as tested with my multimeter. It does get a bit warm tho. It doesn't seem to care if you start charging all your batteries at once or right in the middle of charging another battery. It's awesome. Highly recommend.

Thinkmax 4-in-1 4 Battery Charger Hubsan Thinkmax (B00LGWQ4FG) FAQ.

Time of use:. I have roughly 30 charges. . Used for:. Hubsan x4 fpv in use with 380 mah batteries, no 500 mah use. . First impressions upon opening:. It is smaller and lighter than expected. It feels cheap to the touch (but it is cheap so that was expected). Good cable length. Does not come with wall charger, but i have an extra. The batteries attach with a satisfying and tight click. Leds work, no issue so far. . Current use:. As said above, i have used this with roughly 30 charges on 4, 380mah batteries and it hasn't failed to charge a battery yet. The clicking of the batteries has not worn, and the battery connectors still feel tight when inserted still (batteries falling out of charger is not a hazard at this point). I lost the wall mount for it, and realize that it would be nice if it came with one, but its not a big issue in my book. That being said, i have a large powerbank that i take with me in my drone bag and that will charge all 4 batteries 3 times until its depleted. I suggest a powerbank is purchased because of its handiness in the field. The batteries charge time varies from v output of connector, but after using my large powerbank which runs at 2. 1 (1. 5 suggested) it takes about 25-30 minutes to charge all batteries from proper depletion point (remember batteries should not be fully depleted, check online resources for the proper depletion point of your cell battery). . Summary:. I purchased this thinkmax battery charger for my hubsan x4 fpv, and as the stars imply, i'm delighted with it so far. For the price point it has worked well and i would suggest this product to anyone needing a good, cheap charger. . Extras:. A power bank is helpful for field use. A wall connector is helpful as well. . Pros:. Great price. Easy to understand design. Solid connectors for the batteries. Good cord length. Simple design. Light. . Cons:. Does not come with wall connector -Notice from D. Walsh, Provence-Alpes-Cote dAzur

This charger works great. Much faster than the original charger that came with the quad i bought. The tenergy batteries that i purchased, snap in and cannot easily be removed by hand but it's very easy to remove with small needle nose pliers. No big deal in my opinion so no reason to knock off a star. Update 1: almost forgot to mention that i'm plugging it into a samsung s4 wall charger which is rated at 2a. Works perfect. Update 2: i tried adding a picture just so you can see there are a few different versions of this floating around but you can only add pictures on the original review. The one i received has the led's spaced two on the left and two on the right which is different than the one shown in the picture for this item. Some of them are stamped with a large vrx under the led's but the one i got is blank in that area. In any case i know the one i have works quite well.

Thinkmax-4-in-1-4-battery-charger-hubsan-thinkmax-(b00lgwq4fg) set picture

- F. AlexiaI would echo other comments in that the thing is smaller and seems cheaply built. When i received it, i did have some trouble using some of the jacks, but after a few insertion/removals they got easier to use. After opening it up to see how it was constructed i would also echo another reviewer who said to not worry about pushing/pulling on the jacks too hard. They are not attached to the circuit board but held within sockets in the plastic housing, so even if you were to push too hard and break the housing it is likely that you would not also break the wires so it would still function. The round power jack does not seem to fully insert and the connection can be kind of intermittent. Wiggling it will cause the leds to flicker and at one point i noticed it was not charging, moved the jack and it started charging again. When i get a little time i will probably cut off the connector and hard wire the power cable. That jack seems redundant anyway and the most likely failure point. One question i had is if it could handle charging batteries that were connected at different times and/or with different remaining charges. I can say it works just fine. I was able to plug in a fully drained battery while it was about halfway through charging a second battery with no problems. I only have two batteries right now so have not tested it with more. I did notice that leaving two full batteries attached to the charger overnight, but the charger not plugged into power, resulted in the batteries being slightly depleted the next day (took about 3min to recharge them) suggesting leaving batteries connected while not charging might not be a good idea. I would say overall it is a great value for the price and would buy it again.

Update to below! push the batteries in hard and they will click! so i am adding a couple of stars because that solved most of my lerky comments. Lol. Old review- touchy and frustrating is my opinion about the thinkmax 4-in-1 battery charger. It was smaller than i thought it would be but no big deal on that front, it's when i attempted to plug the batteries into it when things went squirrely. I plugged one battery into the left side and immediately the red led lit up on top and when i set the battery and charger down on the table *poof* the led went out and the battery plug came out. I plugged another 3 batteries in (there are 4 charging ports - a plus, hence the extra star! ) after somewhat securing the first one and proceeded having to play musical batteries when plugging each one in as the others would come loose and fall out. There seems to be no "locking" mechanism in the unit for the battery plugs to stay in place although maybe it's the batteries? (drone pit stop 500m-premium batteries though). Fun times, i just looked and somehow the right one has unplugged again! if you feel your patience needs some testing then by all means buy this but if you want something to work correctly out of the box, better find something else. Oh and the usb plug feels like it doesn't plug in fully as well as the end that fits into the back of the charger is like 1/8 short of fully plugging in. Maybe i have weak finger muscles. Run away from this.

The F.A.Q. for hubsan x4 h107l 4 channel 2.4ghz rc quadcopter, black

I had to wait a few days on some aaa batteries for the controller, but i've just now gotten this thing into the air. It's incredibly fast, stable, and responsive. I've not tested a fast crash into a hard surface but it has spun its rotors into a bush without burning anything out - nice way to figure out where the thing is, too. For $30 including transmitter, this thing is a steal. I'm looking forward to lots of stress free four channel flying practice with this thing. In expert mode i had some annoyance with the automatic flips being a little too easy to activate - but there is an anti-flip mode built in, so getting past that was as simple as a click of a button. Based on first flight impressions, i recommend this little vehicle to anyone with $30 and some free time.

I purchased two of the blue x107l - i lost one and broke one. Since the blue ones were currently selling $40 and this one was $33, plus i thought the black would show up better against the day sky than the blue one, i got this black one. This one does not come with the propeller guard or the blade remover which explains the lower price. It was no matter since i had extras of each. . Since this is the third one i have purchased in two months, it is obvious that i think these are great. I only fly outside in large soccer and football fields in a nearby park. It is a blast, especially in the evening where it's much easier to see due to the lights. In expert mode, it's very fast and responsive. I often have it way beyond 100 yards and have never lost contact. I love the console-game-like controller since it is so comfortable to hold.

One of my favorite things to do is go out and fly this micro bad ss of the skies. This little thing is quick and has plenty of horsepower. I would recommend buying additional accessories, even if its shortly down the road as propellers break and hey - wouldnt you like more batteries to fly this thing all day? i waited a while, would have grabbed propellers asap, crash kit seems a little pointless since the chassis is solid and the legs have a crash feature. You just clip them back in place (they dont fall off or anything). Controller takes time getting use to, flip to advanced mode to get more tactical movement, the paper guide it comes with needs some work but controller is solid. Feels really nice in the hand (which was surprising) and has enough calibration on the sticks to make it feel comfortable.

So being a long time rc enthusiast, my foray into the aerial side of things has been non-existent for well over 35 years. I've been grounded until i decided to get this for my son and i. Plus at $32 a quad - i could get 2 at the price of the overpriced, poorly reviewed one he wanted at a mall shop i saw. . Being there were close to 800+ reviews, mostly positive (besides the "this is the older model" complaints from earlier in the year) - i made the dive. . So first off - this is indeed v2 (if you go to the right seller) and thus has leds, no antenna duckie on the remote and rubber feet underneath. Fairly simple construction and thus out of the box there is no assembly needed. . Once i had fully charged the stock battery (about 20 mins) - i was ready to go. Took it off the ground and thus with mode 1 - where throttle is the left stick - i was airborne. I'll admit - you have to get used to there being now 3 axis to deal with vs. 2 on the ground but alas after about 2-3 hours of flight time with this thing, i'm up 150' in the air and going 100'+ away from me. The secret being that at night - you don't have as many nosy neighbors and thus the leds make it perfect to keep orientation going. . I still have issues where i'm trying hard to learn how to face the unit (blue lights) toward me and fly in reverse which i can do with my rc car without issue - but i'm getting there. My son (12) also has picked up the flying abilities fairly quickly himself. . I'll admit it was a bit daunting at first but i'm rather adept at using it and flying in tight areas. Just some words of advice:. . 1. Buy extra blades. You will crash and thus bend the stock ones. Now you can bend them back but its more that the shaft won't hold onto the blade if it happens to eject too many times and thus you're now having to glue it or just put a new set on. I bought 4 more sets of extras leaving me with a total of 6 sets of blades because the unit comes with an extra. . 2. Don't hit people with this. I mean it hurts like the dickens when a blade grazes your ear or hits your arm - but i've not had it draw blood. That's a plus in my book :). . 3. Keep away from long hair. This is common sense but alas i've done that with a 1 bladed helicopter years ago (toy ones of similar size as this) and thus that was a mess. Thankfully i've not done that with this one. . 4. I prefer the 380 batteries (bought 5 with the 4 way quad charger) and thus find them to run far better even if they don't allow for the battery to store the wire like the stock battery does. Anything bigger won't work here. . 5. The device knows how to level itself. When you hold it in your hands and its not level, the unit knows this and will spin the blades that are on the tilted side faster to level itself out. I tried this by turning the throttle to 20% and thus rotated the thing in my hand to simulate some light wind and it does an amazing job to distribute the power to the right blades to level itself out. . 6. In slight wind 5mph or so - this thing is a champ. Anything more and i know it will be fighting things and could get lost but honestly its a champ and flies fast when you push it at the right angle. It also can go rather high. . 7. Again on the night flying - i prefer it because then i see those leds and thus at night you can also find this little beast far easier should you lose track of it. Those leds are bright. . 8. This is not designed to hold anything or carry anything but itself. Doing so will burn out the motors, go for the h107c. Plus given its size, it couldn't carry much more than an ounce or two without screwing up its center of gravity. . My only complaint is as of this review, i bought it for $32 and thus is now up to $47 from the same store. That's a 50% increase in price and the only reason i can think of this happened was that the fcc made it that you have to register the larger ones so the sellers have gone ahead and upped their prices knowing that people will want these that you don't have to register over the bigger ones. That to me is wrong. On many levels. Proof in the pudding on that price jump: - they show that the price only jumped in mid-dec ironically right after the announcement. Greed sucks.

If i would have had one of these when i was a kid. It would have been a dream come true! . . It is super stable indoors and very fun to fly. . When you get used to it you can fly outside with ease (even in windy conditions this thing is great! ). It can fly about 30-40 mph(in expert mode) and has excellent range, it will be out of sight before you lose connectivity. . Extremely durable, can handle moderate crashes very easily. Most of the time you only have to replace a blade or 2. (ive crashed the thing at least 50 times. One bad crash cracked a leg, but i used 5min epoxy on it to fix). . Battery charges in 33-45 mins - (use a usb3. 0 port, or a tablet usb adapter to charge it for quicker charge times). . Accessories to purchase with it:. . At least 5 sets of extra blades. You'll go through quite a few ! . . Extra batteries(having a total of 3 or 4 is very nice). Note: the stock batteries are best and weigh 8 grams. There are higher capacity batteries you can buy but they weigh 11 grams. In total, with a stock battery the copter weighs 37grams. At 5200ft altitude, it can fly well weighing up to 48-50 grams. The 4 in 1 charger that can charge 4 batteries at once. - it's excellent. 1-2 blade protectors blade guards - this thing is great to have and makes indoor flying much more fun (the guard weighs 3 grams)

U. Josephine, Bournemouth says

Currently the hubsan x4 is my favorite quad, i own four quads, the first (terracopter) i received as a christmas gift from my daughter, the second (not a hubsan x4 but similar in size and quality, i purchase while i was traveling for a month in ukraine, the third was a u816a and the fourth is a nano qx. Actually, have not flown the nano qx yet, still waiting for the fancy $200 transmitter that was recommended for it. . Hover mode (in ground effect) is the best way to teach yourself how to fly this x4. To explain this training method, "ground effects hover" mode: get it flying just above a smooth floor or carpet, between 1 and 4 inches up. You will find it will tend to stay at this level without touching the throttle (up-down) control. The reason is that the propellers moving the air are compressing the air against a hard surface (the floor) and are more efficient in that area. To leave the ground effect area, you will need to add more power by at least 2-4%, the ground effect area is from zero inches to about 4 inches, but for training you want to be above the ground at least 1. 5 inches so the small up-down oscillations do not cause your to touch the surface. Over carpet you will need slightly more space than over smooth concrete or a hardwood floor. The beauty of this training method is that you can now concentrate on just the right control stick, it will take some time to get it trimmed to do this but it is the best way to teach your wife or young kids, my goal is to teach my almost 4 year old twin boys how to fly, it will likely take me a month or more of careful explaining and controlling the throttle stick myself until they get the tilt right, left, forward, back understood. The yaw (rotation) control needs to be trimmed also (the right left on the throttle stick) but it is very stable in this quad. I ordered two more of these hubsan x4 quads today, totally hooked on this chopper. Remember to order some extra batteries and let the batteries cool for at least 20 minutes before recharging them. Also, super important to stop flying slightly sooner, do not run the batteries to the last second (i stop flying within five seconds after the four led lights begin blinking, the batteries will last much longer. The motors will last longer if you give them at least five minutes rest time to cool for every 7 minutes of flying time. One more thing, i created a paper window target to fly through to test my flying skills, if the props hit the paper almost zero damage and great sound effects. I used a big single sheet of newspaper with a 12 inch square hole and re-enforced it with scotch tape. I used a pencil to weight the bottom and thumbtacks to stick one edge to the ceiling. Soft targets like this will improve your flying skills with little damage likely. By the way, i am 61 years old and have owned 3 other normal rc helicopters plus several crashed rc airplanes in the past. Now i am back to being a kid again, super fun, don't wait, for $50 dollars, lots of entertainment. . Updated on january 2, 2016 : i now have three of the syma x11 and three of the hubsan x4. I thought i would need spare parts and batteries and that it would be cheaper to buy three complete models of each. With blade guards attached on both the x11 and the x4 they are about equal in durability and flight time (5-7 mins, depends on how aggressive you fly). The x11 does easier, tighter flips, the x4 is better at vertical acceleration to high altitudes. Nearly impossible to do a flip inside with the x4 but with the x11 it is easy to do a flip indoors. The x4 is more of a sports car flyer and the x11 is more of a cadillac gentle flyer. The x4 can fly is higher winds because it has a more aggressive angle of attack and better power, the transmitter is also better on the x4 with more custom settings for the controls. The x11 is easier to learn how to fly out of the box but the x4 is more for a serious mini-quad racer. The x4 sounds like a group of angry bees. The x11 is a nicer sound when it is flying. The reason is the x11 props are bigger and slower, using a gear reduction drive, and the x4 props and directly mounted on the motor shaft, so they are spinning much faster. Hope that helps.

J. Connie, New York

For $39 i was skeptical. With prime, the hubsan x4 showed up within 2 days packaged nicely. I first read the instructions, charged the battery, powered on in my office, and calibrated my new toy. Setting the new quad on the the floor, i did not expect it to be so quick and responsive. I don't have a lot of experience with quad copter flight or rc flight in general, so the confines of my office probably wasn't the best place to start, but i couldn't wait. The x4 quickly leveled and hovered 4"-6" off the floor, i got brave and brought it to about 6 ft, thinking "i got this". Well, not having paid attention to forward facing direction, pulled the stick the wrong direction, then over corrected. Did i mention this new toy in normal mode is very quick. Short story is, the x4 went up, left, then right, then wwwaaaaayyy left hitting the wall, jammed the throttle in the wrong direction in a panic to shut it down shooting it across the room slamming it into opposite wall. I cringed thinking for sure i was done and this had to be the quickest $40 i had ever spent aside from a vegas slot machine. But, i was relieved as i picked it up off the floor, it survived, and not a scratch this thing, clearly it was designed to take a beating from first flight beginners. Relieved. It went back in the box until i could fly in a lager area. . Later, after i got home and recharged the battery, i tried again in the kitchen this time. I had read reviews about the learning curve being a little steeper than other small quads, and figured i would now try again taking it easy on the controls. Hovering only at first, slow non jerky controlled movements made all the difference, within 2 battery charges i noticed i was getting more confident, maybe overly confident, but decided to make faster larger circles, and rotations in the kitchen, when again the orientation and quickness of this quad zapped me again. This time the crash cost me a propeller, but not an issue, as the replacement was in the box, and in 30 seconds i was back to flying. . There seem to be a lot of pro's to the hubsan x4, and not many con's. If i had to pick on one thing though, it would be the friction fit of the propellers. I think i would prefer a mechanical fit or screw on propeller. I know that this would probably be costly in weight and performance to such a small quad like this, if it had a mechanical fastener, but once you crash and spin the motor inside a stuck prop, you loose the friction connection on the prop and it will no longer stay on. Maybe that is a design choice that costs you a propeller, but saves you a bent motor shaft. Not sure, but either way the visually fine propeller would not stay on requiring use of the spare. . So now at one day in, with a total of 6 flights the hubsan x4 is still running and flying smooth. I have used one propeller and feel like i will likely be ordering more spares before the weekend, but i am still very pleased with this purchase. I wanted to get my bearings and flight training, so to speak, with a slower less costly quad. I think this $39 investment in flight training will go along way in saving me $'s once i progress to the larger, faster, and less forgiving quads i will be flying in future.

This thing is a blast. I was a total newbie, and taught myself to fly it. I am amazed at its stability. I've flown it as high as i dare (until it is just a speck in the sky). I bought the crash pack, and just recently needed to replace the four propellers. They were getting a little banged up and performance was starting to suffer. But the kit included an extra set of props, so i haven't even dipped into the crash pack yet. Except for the extra battery that it had. It's so fun to fly you'll probably want some extra batteries. I get about seven minutes of flight per charge. Everybody loves the crazy "angry bees" sound it makes. The only ding on it is the battery charger seems a little quirky. The light doesn't always go off when the charge is done. But i've learned to unplug it from the wall for a few seconds before starting the charge, and it has been working fine, if a little slow. I think it takes about 45 min to an hour for a full recharge (240 mah). You should devote some time to reading and understanding the manual before you start flying it. The manual is adequate. There are still a couple of things i'm working through, but pace yourself, be patient, and i think you'll enjoy it.

This is the most acrobatic mini drone i have owned. It is stable, fast, and has very high rates. My only complaint is the props fly off easily. This drone is full manual. There is no altitude hold, no headless mode, no camera, no first person view, no return to home, and no gps ( i highly recommend the h107d+ if you are looking for that class of quad). I have not flown this long so i cannot comment or reliability. . Cliff notes:. The good, . Adjustable rates for yaw (rotate), pitch (forward/back), and roll (lean left/right). Stable hover and stable during altitude rise while making pitch and roll adjustments. A 250 mah battery will fit with out affecting flight performance. Absolutely destroys the syma x11 and has the speed of a nano drone. Rates high enough to do power flips. No other micro drone i've had comes close. Leds are bright and its easy to remain oriented. The lower portion of the arms unsnap in a wreck to reduce arm breakage. The drone is powerful enough to unsnap the arms in flight. Yay! . . The bad, . Props fly off. Gyro freaks out when powering back up after power off descent. Power on/off flips not possible. . This is my 8th drone . I have had the u45 raven, holy stone x401-v2, virhuck volar 360, syma x11, syma x12, eachine 010, and hubsan 107d plus. I the only direct competitor in my collection is the syma x11 but it has the characteristics of the nano sized volar 360 and eachine 010. The h107l simply blows the syma x11 out of the sky in all performance categories. It changes direct as fast as a tiny nano drone. . This may not be the best beginner drone but the slow speed mode is very manageable. Also the rates can be tuned in the radio from up to 60% in slow mode to 100% in fast mode. There is a flip function but that is not needed at 90% roll or pitch rate. Hold full one way and pull full the other to power flip. Start up is a easy as plug in battery, bind controller, calibrate gyro. I received the battery at 40% charge. . Every drone enthusiast should own a h107l hooligan.

I was very impressed with this little quad. I recently purchased and dji phantom 2 and read that the controls on this quad were very similar. So, i bought this as a training tool and a toy for my 8 year old. If you are thinking about buying this for a kid younger than 8, i would reconsider. The controls are very touchy and take some getting use to. I crashed it a couple of times in our first flight out of the box. However, once you get use to the controls, it is a blast. My son has even mastered flying this thing indoors. The quad is the funnest when you fly it outside. I flew this thing all over the place and up as high as 40 feet, before it was small and hard to see. . Quality: i would say this is very well built. It has survive crashing into numerous item in our house with no problems. I recently took it outside and was flying it about 25 feet in the air, when the battery light started blinking. On this thing, once the lights start to blink, you don't have much time before you lose all power. In this case i could not get the quad down in time, before it lost power and hit the ground hard enough to disconnect the battery, sending it flying across the yard. I thought this thing was done, as hard as it hit. The only damage sustained was one of the arms had a crack in it. I wrapped it will a little electrical tape and it was back in the air with no problem. I found a replacement part on online store for $6. 00, so it will be easy to replace good as new. . Other than that, i would recommend buying extra batteries for it. As stated on the website, the battery only lasts for about 7 min.

I will start by saying that this little quad has exceeded my expectations in just about every way. It is fast, nimble and agile but not so much that it is difficult to control. The response from the transmitter to the quad is spot on, no delay and no lag. I received it this morning and have been flying it all day and i have had a blast doing so. Being new to the hobby and first time flyer i expected that practice and patience would be required and i was correct. But it's not discouraging not being able to fly it like a seasoned pilot could because of the excitement of what you'll be able to do once at that level. . Just a few things that i would recommend to new pilots and those looking to get into the hobby. First point, do your homework, take into account what you want out of a quad and go from there. Me personally, i wanted to make sure this was something i was going to enjoy doing and am capable of doing. It doesn't make sense to spend hundreds of dollars on a quad to find out it's not a hobby you're going to enjoy and pursue and invest the time to get better at if you don't enjoy it. Start small and work your way up, you'll be glad you did. . Secondly, be smart about your purchase, yes this is something that is a heck of a lot of fun. Thus, spend the extra money from the get go and invest in the necessary upgrades and equipment to help fuel your passion for flying these little guys. When i bought this quad, i also purchased the crash pack in case something broke, didn't work etc. It gives you peace of mind knowing you're prepared for that oh s* moment. Batteries, buy a pack of 5 batteries and the charger to juice them all up at the same time. You'll significantly increase the time you get to fly which means more practice and more fun. Buy the protective guard that keeps the propellers safe from pilot error, this is a must! if not for that guard i would have destroyed several props by now and it isn't as flimsy as other people on here say it is, it does it's job. Lastly, shell out the couple bucks and buy the u wrench to remove the props. They do not come off that easily and you risk pulling out or damaging the motor using brute force, it's the right tool for the job, use it. . Upon ending this review i want to give all that read this some information that i had to dig up and a significantly helpful tip to the first time flyer. Calibrate your transmitter! now when you do this you're calibrating for either mode 1 or mode 2 and the mode you calibrate it for is the mode that now becomes your default mode. The difference between the two is your throttle and rudder become switched with your elevator and aileron (the stick's swap controls) and your throttle and elevator trim buttons flip flop as well. Before every flight calibrate your accelerometer and be sure to do it on a flat and level surface. This will help reduce the likelihood of your copter wanting to drift in any one direction but i have found that trimming is needed for every flight, small adjustments are key. Finally, the most helpful tip i have for you first time flyers, just like me. When you get all the above steps finalized, push and hold the right stick until the letters "se" for settings appears in the display. What this does is allows you to turn down the sensitivity of the controls to as low as 20 percent for normal and i believe 60 percent for expert. Click the left stick to cycle through each of the four controls, elevator, aileron, throttle and rudder and turn them down to 25 percent. I don't know if this is correct but when i turned my sensitivity down to 20 percent i wasn't able to calibrate the accelerometers. After i turned it up to 25 percent it worked just fine. I'm assuming the same would happen in expert if you turned it down to 60 percent. I cannot tell you how much easier it has made it for me to control this thing and after i get used to the controls and it's behavior i will turn it back up. It came factory set at 50, 50, 60 and 50 percent. Trust me when i tell you that it will make a huge difference. . All in all, the hubsan x4 h107l is an awesome little machine, for the price, the performance and the features it is a no brainer and very hard to beat. Pick one up, you'll be hooked, no buyers remorse here. Thanks for reading. I hope this helps a lot of you.

I received my hubsan x4 on sunday afternoon, immediately after charging the battery and going through the instructions was excited to fly it. However, it kept drifting back and to the right no matter how much trim i was giving it. I kept wrecking and end up breaking to blades. It was nearly uncontrollable. . I took it to work with me to show a friend of mine it who is experienced with rc cars and quadcopters and it wrecked again at which point the back right motor popped out completely. He pointed out that there was a small burn mark on the motor and that that it was mostly likely shorting out from there. . I called online store customer support and they issued me a return receipt and i've already ordered a replacement. I plan on updating my review when the replacement arrives. But in the meantime if you order a hubsan x4 and have drift that is unfixable by resetting or trim save yourself the time and effort and call customer support . . Update:. . Got my replacement and holy cow this drone is awesome! if i could give it 6 stars i would. It flies better than my syma x5sw. . One suggestion though by the propeller guard, it well or the the money it will save you in propellers.

Go with this model (no camera). I previously owned the hubsan x4 with a camera (h107c). The quality was extremely poor and wasn't worth the extra weight. . This drone is extremely capable and fun to fly. The battery life goes out after about 10 minutes, so make sure to purchase an additional battery. The prop guards (not included) are helpful for when you are first flying, but flying "naked" makes it much faster. Always level the drone before flight (hold left joystick to the bottom right and move the right joystick back and forth several times; drone will beep). The controller well designed and easy to use. Clicking in the right joystick enables pro-mode and makes the drone much faster and more maneuverable. . The price is great for a first time drone user and someone wanting to learn more about drone flight mechanics (since there is no gps stabilization).

Hard to beat hubsan h107l as a starter, however, i want to point out that if you can get your hands on a h108 (yes, there is such a thing) the h108 is slightly better than h107l in my opinion. I have both and i found myself preferring the h108 for a more solid feel and bigger battery compartment, so i can run 500mah batteries without problem. Yes, 500mah batteries fits in both quads and i really don't see much "speed" differences, but it gives you a lot more fly time.

This is a neat little "gizmo". But be sure to read all the instructions before attempting to "play" with this "toy". My husband is an "i can do it myself" kind of guy. He attempted to use the x4 right out of the box without reading the enclosed booklet with all it's warnings. Despite my suggestion, "i think it would be a good idea to learn how to maneuver it outside in an open area", he first tried it out in the house . What a disaster ! it ran into everything. So, i can't fault the x4 . Just the user. So, be forewarned to practice, practice, practice with this "toy" before sharing the fun with your grandchildren !
