Indie Boards & Cards One Night Revolution Card Game (onr1ibc) 5233

Review for one night revolution card

Price was $11.88. Social deduction games have been making quite a splash in recent years, and few are better than the resistance (2009) and one night ultimate werewolf (2014). This game is advertised as "from the makers of the resistance & one night ultimate werewolf", and combines the theme of the resistance with the game play of one night ultimate werewolf with some twists. The main difference is that there is no moderator, because abilities are executed in clockwise order, and abilities are separated from team loyalty. It's a terrific secret role playing game that has the feel of one night ultimate werewolf, with enough differences to make it arguably even better. This is a great game for people new to social deduction games, with games taking less than ten minutes, and packing in a great deal of fun in that time-span. Highly recommended! - endersgame bgg

Great game. I play alot of resistance/avalon/coup with coworkers and friend. Was a little difficult to get the hang of at first, but i have a better understanding now. . I think one of the major difficulties resistance players have coming to this, is knowing how and when to lie. The resistance bluffing is very straight forward: you act and speak like a good guy if you're good and if you're bad you still try to act like a good guy. The entire game you know your goal and you focus on keeping your story straight. In resistance/avalon, there is no advantage of bluffing about being bad if one is good. In one night revolution however, you are independently trying to deduce what really happened in order to spin the story for your own good. Good guys shouldn't always lie and bad guys sometimes should tell the truth. It is true there are less "facts" than in an avalon game, but to say it's "random" means your playgroup is not creative and thinking outside the box. . Pros:. - quick. - simple roles, simple rules. - lots of replay value. . Cons:. - says 3-10, but 3 players is pretty weak. 4 players is better but you really need 5 or more before things get exciting. - difficult learning curve-the rules may be easy but the bluffing is much more challenging than in resistance/avalon (not necessarily "better than" avalon, but you have to think differently). - you need the right play group. Not everyone will like this, but i think most people who enjoyed the deduction of resistance/avalon can learn to like it. - lots of time with eyes closed (but not much different than werewolf/resistance/avalon) - my grandmother calls it "the prayer meeting game" when she saw us playing it. . Notes:. - this does not replace resistance/avalon. Those will always be close to my heart. - this is not better than resistance/avalon. It's different. (i would still advise people to start with resistance/avalon before this game) Best one night revolution card | Publisher Services Psi-Toys And Games Review as-of ( Oct 2021 ) Featured Indie Boards & Cards One Night Revolution Card Game Stand alone game that builds on the social deception games from indie boards & cards and bezier games. I bought this after having one night ultimate werewolf for a bit. This does away with the need for a moderator, and it has a rule/mechanism that jump starts the discussion in the day phase. Great game. -G. Kristen

Indie Boards & Cards Coup Rebellion G54 Card Game

Game is fun. I've played coup a bunch of times with many different people and wanted a change. This introduces a ton of new characters with a bunch of new features. It's a slightly more involved version of coup. Just make sure you're familiar with all the roles (meaning the 5 you choose to play with) before you start. If someone keeps glancing at the various roles, they're probably bluffing.

Coup rebellion g54 is the exciting sequel to rikki tahta's award-winning game coup. G54 uses the same lightning fast rules found in coup - claim, counter, challenge and bluff - and then adds an exciting strategic layer via character selection.

Awesome game - if you like the original coup you'll love this; same structure but there are now 40 different influence cards and you play with some combination of 5 of them, making for diverse and interesting gameplay; overall an awesome variation on the original! -Notice from X. Janice, Devon

This game was an absolute blast! our group picked up in the rules quickly and within about an hour had a few games in (and a few drinks). You have no idea who is bluffing and there are so many different configurations to the game that the possibilities are endless. Definitely a game for our game night rotation!

- V. NicoleMy family adores this game. It plays very quickly and is a lot of fun. The only complaint we have is card durability; given that this is a bluffing game, the wear patterns on the cards make it difficult to bluff. Card protectors recommended due to their card delicacy.

Fun game. Cards could be sturdier, and the box the game comes in is huge compared to the actually game. I enjoy it more than the original "coup" because the game goes for a little longer, and there are many more options in terms of cards/variants. Worth picking up if you like card/board games with friends and the idea of "bluffing" and "secrets" sounds fun to you.

Indie Boards & Cards Coup Reformation expansion

Very fun game. I love this game because it doesn't involve luck. It's all strategy. Settlers of catan, risk, any game you can think of that uses dice has too much "luck" built in for me to enjoy. Don't even get me started on yahtzee! . But this game has no dice, it's simply strategy, and that's why i love it.

Driven by their successes, the resistance has gained popular support and entire regions are in open rebellion. In a desperate attempt to stay in control, some government leaders are publicly supporting the reforms demanded by the resistance. But allegiances are constantly shifting, and can be bought for the right price. The opportunity for intrigue and bluff has never been greater. The cost of failure couldn't be higher. Even with the reformation, only one can survive.

Coup Reformation Expansion (Indie Boards Cards) FAQ.

If you have a big family or a lot of friends, you want to get this expansion to play coup! it really adds a new dimension to the game! adding the concept of teams/sides streamlines the play by reducing the number of people from whom you have to watch your back and the flexibility to spend coin to change sides can be used as defensive or offensive measure and can also keep you from getting to wealthy (ie dangerous) and therefore getting targeted. Great expansion! -Notice from J. Theresa, Croydon

Good expansion, but not blown away. I play coop as a quick and easy to digest game between other heavy games. I like that it comes with another class (inquisitor) but in the rules they are to replace one of the other classes (ambassador). . Pros:. - decent expansion with great art. - fits in the original box. - team mechanic addition sounds like it will help large games. . Cons:. - cheap cardboard box and is not a replacement for the old box. - new class replaces old class instead of adding to the classes

- P. DonnaGreat expansion to a game that is, quick to play when everyone knows the rules. Takes just a few rounds to learn, with each round lasting about 20 minutes the first few times. Once you get a hang of the game, the gameplay is typically quick and enjoyable. The game always changes based on the people playing. My family has now made this a go to game when we all get together

I was a big fan of the original coup game, and it was a hit among my regular gaming group, so i picked up the expansion. The new allegiance mechanic really made the game more interesting with a larger group and everyone in our group liked it, but i probably would not use it on a small group of 3-4 players. I would highly recommend this expansion to anyone who enjoys the original game.

Resistance Hidden Agenda Card Game

The new game modes and options are good and bad. On the whole, each module has been enjoyable - we usually stick with the mode that parallels the core gameplay to avalon, which has been a hit. Our gaming group has run into problems with the number of options for the spy/resistance structure, which has resulted in a few people getting rather upset about "just being a regular spy or resistance member". . We spend most of our time playing the assassin module. Defector was fun, but frustrating in the beginning, and we haven't had a group large enough to really tap the potential of the trapper module. All said, the game is our go-to for larger groups (8-ish), when we want to wrap up a night by playing a game together.

An expansion to the resistance universe that adds fun new ways to play resistance! , assassin module: the resistance avalon roles ported to the resistance universe, defector module: players can switch allegiances during the game. , trapper module: bigger mission teams.

This is a great expansion to the game it adds excitement back into the game. Since i usually only have a group of 5 to play with adding commander and assassin makes the game interesting again. My only complaint and why i can't give it 5 stars is the back of the card are darker in this expansion than they are in the original game so sometimes people could tell who was who or narrow it down at least. We ended up hiding our cards in our pockets so that wouldn't happen but we still had issues when we passed them out. Ended up buying card covers and now nobody knows what is what!

- I. HakalaReally wish that the expansion pack was already included, because the expansion pack makes this came what it should be.

Great expansion to the original resistance; the main attraction being the same roles found in resistance: avalon while keeping the theme of the base game. Adds a lot of more fun and tension to an already great game. The various characters and modes also allow you to adjust the difficulty for one side (spies or resistance) to level things out if one side is always winning. Got great feedback from gamers and non-gamers alike so i highly recommend this for fans of the resistance.

Grey Fox Games Deception: Murder in Hong Kong

This game feels like clue without all the moving around on the board. Its a fantastic logic game where you talk with the other players to try to deduce the murder scenario that has taken place based on clues provided by the forensic scientist while the murderer tries to mislead the group. . Great replay value, and everyone i've played with has enjoyed it. I recommend at least 4 people to fully enjoy the game. . Pros:. -fun discussions. -fun for bigger groups. -easy to introduce. . Cons:. -a bit unbalanced against the murderer, as they rarely win when i've played. -might not be good for quiet/shy people, as it requires lots of discussion

In deception: murder in hong kong, players find themselves in a scenario of intrigue and murder, deduction and deception. One player is the murderer, secretly choosing their weapon and the evidence they leave behind. Another is the forensic scientist who holds the key to convicting the criminal but is only able to express their knowledge through analysis of the scene. The rest are investigators, interpreting the clues to solve the crime and the killer is among them.

Deception: Murder In Hong Kong (Grey Fox Games) FAQ.

If you're a fan of deduction/traitor/bluffing games of any type (resistance, secret hitler, werewolf, mafia; and even games that include these mechanics like bsg, camelot and sherrif of nottingham), this game is a no-brainer must-buy. If you absolutely hate those types of games, then this might be the one to change your mind - it's that good! . . Every single person that i've played this game with (gamers and non-gamers alike) loved it. No "stressful traitor burn-out" at all with this game, even after several in-a-row play-throughs. Since we introduced deception into our board gaming group, it's never been played *only* once during a play session. . The price fluctuates a lot due to its popularity, but honestly after having played it, i'd pay double and still feel like i got my money's worth! -Notice from B. Cunningham, Northwest Territries

This has been a no fail game for any group i've brought it to, whether or not they were experienced board gamers. This is the kind of game that your friends will ask you to break out again the next time they come over. We love all trying to put the murder into a narrative and telling each other how we think it happened. Everyone has these elaborate stories because there are lots of clues, some of which matter and some of which do not. The best way to weed out the clues that don't matter is to work in all the clues into murder story, and see which clues change in the next round. This way, the climax of the game is not like the anti-climactic board game clue, where you would say, "i think john committed the murder with the scarf and left behind the playing card. " it's more like, "ok, i think john was playing a high stakes game of poker in an abandoned factory with someone he met on craigslist. Everyone was dressed warmly because the factory did not have good heating. After winning a big hand, his opponent attempted to argue his way out of paying the debt. There was a scuffle, and in a fit of rage, he strangled the deadbeat to death with his own scarf. " these stories are the highlight of the game. It's the best when the murderer has a really good alternative story that the other players buy into, and after he gets away with the murder, everyone goes back to the clues and realizes how they were duped.

- W. Janice*update*. Kids on christmas break played no less than 20 rounds of this game and didn't want to stop. Next day, they asked if we could play again. My 18yr old, who is ultra competitive, even wanted to play. Why he would like this, is because the player interaction outweighed any frustrations he may have with having to wait on people to make a decision. Raising the review a star because they really, really like it! . . By the way, out of 20 games, our group of five players (ages 12 to 40-something) only won once as the investigators. The murderer won ever time. The success of the investigators hinges primarily on the forensic scientist (most difficult role to play) in guiding the investigators as best as possible. . In a six player game you now add in the roles of accomplice and witness. Our investigators won 60% of the time, thanks to the witness. . . Overview:. Reprint of csi files, which i never played but have heard good things about. Initial concept is similar to mafia, werewolf, ect. Where you are using deduction to guess the identify of someone. . One person is the forensic scientist and one is the murder. These are the must-have roles. You may have the optional witness or an accomplice, depending on number of players. Most of the cards are all the different causes of death. . The forensic scientist will use tiles to give the other players clues (without talking) by putting markers on the tiles. Everyone gets 30-seconds to talk and then a tile is removed and replaced with another tile. This keeps going on until someone spends a token to guess the murderer and players win or murder wins if the guesses are wrong. . Components:. Excellent quality components on tiles, cards and token markers. . Theme:. The added asian symbols makes this feel like i'm an american detective in hong kong working with the other detectives trying to solve the crime. . The team of detectives (players) are simply "reading" the forensic scientist's report and between that and the conversation it feels like the group is really working together to solve the crime. Plus there is the murderer who is a mole in the group. . Learning curve:. Super easy to teach anyone. So easy in fact i guess you could treat this as a gateway game, which means it is easy to introduce to non-gamers and they should be able to have fun without getting overwhelmed by a bunch of rules. . Other notes:. When it is the forensic scientist's turn, they have to keep a straight face through the whole thing or they give away too much information. . When everyone has their heads down and the forensic scientist asks the murder to reveal themselves and point out the causes of death, it really is difficult in these games for folks not to hear or feel the person next to them moving. So people need to be careful and quiet when playing the murderer. . Overall:. This is not exactly my cup-of-tea, but i do like it and have fun. I'm more a 3-4hrs armies battling game kind of guy or tabletop roleplaying game if i was to pick my favorite type of game to play. Maybe i should not ding the review a star, but that's just how i feel about it. . . Right now. . On the other hand, my kids love. Just love playing mafia or werewolf at youth group and this is yet another game they are enjoying adding to the mix. It is a good party game, but requires people who won't cheat, which is why the age requirement is a bit higher than maybe expected (plus the theme has to do with murder). Overall, we really like this and it joins the other 200 games we have on our shelf. . Two-thumbs-up!

Really quickly became the game my group plays the most! it's a great game that brings good deduction mechanics and most importantly a big laughs&funs! . I played about 10 games so far (6ppl & 4ppl) and here are my impressions:. - it's really fast (15-30 depending on no. Of players) and non gamers can easily pick up and also be really good at this game. - i love the components and its quality. Though i still used card sleeves to protect the role cards. If murderer card has some distinct damage or fold it will kill the game. - it's easy to swap away your forensic scientist role without affecting the game (if you don't like the role). - murderer has much less pressure compared to other games like resistance. It's really hard to tell who the murderer is from their behaviours as everyone's cards would match some of clues given. Also guessing the murderer won't finish the game as you have to guess the 2 cards completely correctly. So it's much more proper deduction than sniffing out the bad guy(s) which i really like about the game. - i would say it's slightly easier for murderer to win. It's mainly because some of the clue tiles cannot help to guess some cards at all (e. G. Weapon is a poison and clue tile is weather). And you only get to change 2 clue tiles only. - definitely would be more fun with large number of players (i think 6-8 would be perfect). I really really really hope to see an expansion for this game as there are good room for improvements such as adding more cards, roles, events, mechanics. I am not saying this game is not great yet but i can see that it can become even greater game with more stuff. Please make an expansion !

Indie Boards & Cards The Resistance The Dystopian Universe

Playing:. A great party game when you have 5-10 people. Game plays relatively quick, with most of our games lasting between 15 and 30 minutes. Quickly players can get into the shoes of the treacherous spies or the valiant resistance fighters. Players are assigned to one of two teams (spies or resistance) and using social deduction, try and figure out who each other are. Have played it in multiple countries and no two groups play quite the same. The inquisitor is an interesting addition for experienced players. . Craftsmanship:. This is a real high quality game. Pieces are thick and durable. Artwork is attractive and helps players to understand the game mechanics. . Verdict:. Buy it and give it a try. Unless. You're a spy. That's something a spy would say.

The resistance is a very intense game of secret identities deductiona and deception for 5-10 players.

The Resistance Dystopian Universe (Indie Boards Cards) FAQ.

The resistance is a very fun and even addicting social deduction game. I say addicting because you will feel disappointed and maybe even a bit sad when your friends or family bail on you and you no longer have enough people at your game night or gaming event to play it. I have found that people seem to either love the resistance or they hate it. Luckily for me most of my friends and family love the game. The few people that i do know that hate the game tend to be the people who like low to no skill chance based games. I'm not saying there is anything terrible about chance based games that require very little to no skill to play, i have several in my board and card game case. And i'm not saying that you have to be skilled or anything to play and enjoy the resistance it is just a vague observation that my husband and i have made. I think part of the love/hate is because the type (and quality) of the game play can vary greatly depending on the type of people you are playing with. Some games i've played i could easily describe as stressful (the games with that guy who always yells and takes everything too seriously or the games with that couple that are constantly at each others throats) and some games could be described as formulaic and dry (the games with that couple that are easily confused and don't like to have to think about what they are playing or the game with that guy that takes notes on how people voted). I have also found that when people don't care about the outcome of the game at all regardless of if they are a spy or not tend to bring the mood down and make the game play feel flat as they don't or will rarely contribute to any of the dialogue. Overall it is a very fun game if you can get 5 or more people together. A little tip i have for more fun game play is to early on set the tone for the game and call someone a dirty filthy spy and glance suspiciously around at others as well as whenever you can try and bring some discussion into the game play. On another note the card and tile art is very nice, better than many of my other card and board games. Also, after a week or two of owning the game i bought both expansions (that is how much my family and friends liked it) but i would recommend those for when your group is comfortable with the base set. Another thing i found is too not overdo it on the game (like playing it every game night for hours) as it can be intimidating and stressful for some players and it is better to ease up on the game than to cause a family member or a regular at a game night to hate the game and drop out. -Notice from R. Pamela, Shropshire

The resistance pits two opposing factions against each other: the resistance fighters and the government spies. Either team wins by either faction winning or failing 3 missions. The resistance wins by completing 3 missions, while the spies win by failing 3 missions out of a total of five missions. The game begins by randomly passing out player cards of either resistance fighters or spies. For a 5-6 player game there would be 2 spies while a 7-9 player game having 3 spies and a 10 player game having 4 spies. The games are balanced by the number of spies as well as the number of people that can take part of a each mission. The game starts by the mission leader selecting people for the mission. The entire group of people playing then votes whether the group is good for the mission either by "accept" or "decline". If half or more decline the mission then it moves on to the next team leader. If 5 missions are declined in a row then the spies win. When the mission starts the players in the mission are given "success" or "fail" cards. The resistance must vote for the mission to succeed. If you are a spy, however, you can vote for the mission to fail or succeed. The vote cards are put in a discard pile and a voting pile. The dealer shuffles the voting pile and then lays out the cards. What i love about this game:. (1)if a single fail card is played then you know that one of the people on the mission was a spy. (2)if you are a good liar you can win. (3)the "accept" or "decline" tokens are brilliant because they help you determine the motives of certain individuals: "only a spy would decline this mission" or "only a spy would accept this mission", ect. , things like that. Overall i feel the game is well balanced:sometimes the spies win, sometimes the resistance wins. It's not too complicated and i'm sure your drunk friends could figure it out.

- L. EdithThis is one of the most fantastic party games i can imagine. It's easy to learn, but incredibly intense to play. It scales to accomodate lots of players, but doesn't really take more time in doing so (it depends on how long everyone spends talking to each other about each mission). Outwit your hidden enemies and discover your allies or employ the most cunning deception and subtlest of feints to foil everyone's plans. . The resistance has but one goal - weed out the spies and avoid taking them on missions at all costs. . The spies, however, have two options for victory - make 3 of the 5 missions failures, or stall the game through 5 rejected votes for mission team members. . This game is all kinds of glorious. As the resistance, you always get this story that leaves you in either shock (failure) or smug satisfaction (victory) at the end when you discover who were the spies all along, or as the spies feel an overwhelming sense of pride as you watch the resistance tumble blindly - despite their best cautions - into the last of your well-laid traps. . The game is balanced, fairly quick, incredibly intense, and altogether a blast to play again and again. Its small size makes it easy to take everywhere, too, so i love bringing it along to anywhere we might get a chance to play it. Buy this game. It's worth every penny.

If you're looking for a fun 2-6p (need to accomodate more than that - get more copies of the game or just add marked regular playing cards to it in sets) party game look no further! this game is the perfect warmup/warm-down game for family gatherings or casual hangouts. It is extremely easy to pick up and yet holds a surprisingly large amount of strategy. It's easy to learn, hard to master. . The box is tiny so it's portable and travels easily! the components of the game all fit into the box perfectly. Speaking of the components they are the cards, summary sheets, instructions booklet and tokens. . The card art is perfect and suits the game - definitely admirable even after hours of play. The tokens could've been better but do their job and are sturdy. . Summary: if you want to play a quick game that requires deduction and deception - this is your game. I can only say that playing with quiet/timid people will be slightly frustrating (if they don't talk much) but aside from that - it flows regardless.

In the not too distant future, the government is run for profit by a new "royal class" of multi-national ceos. Their greed and absolute control of the economy has reduced all but a privileged few to lives of poverty and desperation. Out of the oppressed masses rose the resistance, an underground organization focused on overthrowing these powerful rulers. The valiant efforts of the resistance have created discord, intrigue and weakness in the political courts of the noveau royal, bringing the government to brink of collapse. But for you, a powerful government official, this is your opportunity to manipulate, bribe and bluff your way into absolute power. To be successful, you must destroy the influence of your rivals and drive them into exile. In these turbulent times there is only room for one to survive.

Indie Boards & Cards Coup The Dystopian UniverseIndie-Boards-Cards-Dystopian-Universe

Coup Dystopian Universe (Indie Boards Cards) FAQ.

I was skeptical about this game because i hate games like resistance and avalon, where a few people have special abilities but everyone else has nothing to do except solve the puzzle. I can't express how much i hate these games. But my husband had read about coup and wanted to give it a try, and for the price (online store was having a board-game sale), i couldn't refuse. . The premise is simple and it's very easy to teach new players. Every player has a role (two, in fact), and those roles can change depending on what happens. You can fake being any role, which is the whole point: fake out your opponents so they don't know who you are. Play is fast and simple; you can get through a few games in an hour. Everyone i played this with loved it and had a good time. I have no complaints and highly recommend this as a party game and an alternative to any others who think resistance is meh! -Notice from I. Coup is a crowd-pleaser, there's no denying. This quick, little card game handles 2 to 6 players and can be played in fifteen minutes or less, making it a great addition to game nights. It is best played with five to six playes and it's fairly easy to pick up. It also comes with six handy reference cards to make learning the game even easier. . The object of the game is to bluff your way to victory. In a far-flung future where the majority of the population is poor and oppressed, only a select few wield power and wealth. You will draw two cards which you will keep secret from your opponents and you will either use their actions or claim you have other cards instead so you can use their actions. The catch? if someone else challenges you and you can't show you have the character to justify the action you just took, you lose influence. If you do have the applicable character, the person challenging loses an influence. Losing an influence is defined as you turning over one of your cards face up, thus losing access to one action. If you lose all your influence, meaning both your cards are face up, you're exiled and you lose. Be the last man standing to win. . The game consists of 15 character/action cards and a bag of money tokens, as well as the six reference cards cited earlier, making it simple to cart around. Coup was a big hit at my game night, with people liking it a lot or flat-out loving it. It's a great way to practice your poker face, because you'll need a good one to win.

- F. ElizabethThis game is a hit with everyone! great card game about bluffing and taking risks! i had to buy a second one after taking one to work (i work with teens) and the kids wouldn't let me take the game back home. They loved the strategy of lying to win. This game is fast paced and easy to learn. Would definitely recommend!

I don't really grade games on artwork or durability. I just care about the game play, and this game is incredibly fun. I first played with three people and we laughed super hard while playing. It's a bluffing game, but you aren't actually betting, like in poker, so it's just pure fun and doesn't feel competitive. I've also played a bunch of two-player games and enjoyed that, too. I love the fact that a hand is so quick ( 5 minutes), so it's not a big commitment to start playing. You can just stop whenever. . When first learning, it may seem like there are a lot of rules, but after one evening it is easy to internalize them. Anyway, the game has a bunch of summary cards to hand out to players, and the cards themselves say what they can do. What makes the game so fun is that the cards have such incomparable powers, yet in the end it's pretty well balanced-whatever cards you start with can be a winning hand if you play it right, bluff at the right time, and aren't too unlucky about what the other player has. You can lie flagrantly and often get away with it, but when a ridiculous bluff is uncovered, it invariably cracks everybody up. Again, because no money is at stake and you typically play a bunch of independent hands in an evening without keeping score, it's just super light-hearted fun. . My friends and i now sometimes play coup with a regular deck of cards, too, just using 10, j, q, k, a of three suits for our 15 cards, so you don't really *need* the official game. But you should support the brilliant people who designed this game by buying the very reasonably priced original version. Plus with the official version you'll get to enjoy the playing cards that say what they do and the summary cards that help you learn the game and the special coup coins that feel more appropriate than poker chips.

Bezier Games One Night Ultimate Vampire

This is a cool and fun party game. Plays very quick and is exciting enough to want to play over and over. There is an app you can download on your smartphone or tablet that helps enhance the play experience, and also makes it easier, providing a timer, and a role call operator.

One night ultimate vampire is a fast game for 3-10 players where everyone gets a role: the nefarious vampire, the well-meaning cupid, the sneaky assassin, or others, each with a special ability. In the course of a single evening, your village will decide who among them is a vampire. Because all it takes is finding one vampire to win.

One Night Ultimate Vampire (Bezier Games) FAQ.

We own all the one night games. Vampire is unique as it adds a dusk phase that allows more actions. The addition of tokens adds a whole new layer to the game. While it is possible to play with just a handful of people, the tokens make it more fun with numbers of six or greater. Considering the fact that it can be played by itself, or added to an existing one night set for epic vampire vs. Werewolf vs. Villager battles, one night vampire is a great game! -Notice from V. Great game but a little too complex for the typical "non-gamer". One night warewolf is probably more enjoyable for those players but for the avid gamer, this game is perfect. Not easy to learn so you will need to play a few times to get the hang of it. I voted 4 stars because of the learning difficulty.

- T. BarbaraGot this copy as a gift for the family as we already had it but they love to play it anytime we get together. Made for a great gift and is an amazing game. Looks kind of scary at first glance but is super easy to keep up and there's an amazing app to go along with it to make game play so much easier!

This is almost the same game as "one night wearwolf". I hear about these games at a company retreat and my first though was " so dumb". I ended up reading other reviews and ordering it a few year later. Now it's one of our family's favorite games. We play is as a family including our little kids ( 5 and 9) for fun and not really following the rules. You definitely can play it with younger kids but it will be more for them than you. :). This game is good for kids 12 and up. The people playing it need to be able to lie and bluff. Our friend's teenage daughter is amazing at it. She is an amazing young lady and i was baffled at her game face. Our youngest player is usually 11 years old. At that age it's a hit or miss. They either get it or not. Now that we established the age let's get to the game. There are multiple characters in the game but in the end it comes down to 2 teams : the viliger and the were wolfs/ vampires ( depending which game you are playing ) we love these games so much we own all the pack and expansions. There is an app for the game which you will need to download in order to play. The game starts by choking which characters you want in the game. You need at least 2 wolfs/ vampires and enough characters + 3 cards to be placed in the middle. Let's assume you have 6 players. That means that you would need 9 cards. Every player receives a card and you place 3 in the middle. You may look at your own card but not share it with anybody else. Then everybody places their card face down on the table closes their eyes and the fun begins. The app walks you through a series of actions, for example all werewolfs open their eyes so they can see each other, or one of the characters ( the robber) gets to exchange his card with somebody else's. After all actions are taken you will be told to open your eyes and atart the investigation. The viligers ( all characters other than were wolfs/vampires) need to find out the werewolfs and the werewolfs don't want to be exposed. That means they have to lie and deceive. In the end the group decides who to accause of being a were wolf/ vampire. If the person accused is indeed a werewolf or vamp the viligers team wins otherwise the werewolf / vampires win. The best part of the game? - it only takes 5-10 minutes but it's highly addictive!

The F.A.Q. for indie boards & cards one night revolution card game

A quick synopsis of game play in one night revolution: every player is given an id which tells them if they are a rebel (good) or informant (bad). They are also given a specialist role which grants each player a unique action they must perform during the night phase, which is the first of two phases. Everyone closes their eyes, the bad guys both secretly open their eyes and reveal themselves to each other, and then in clockwise order every single player performs their special action while everyone else has their eyes closed. Most of the time these actions involve viewing or switching your or another player's id, thus changing a player's id from good to bad, potentially. After everyone has had a turn secretly do their specialist action, everyone opens their eyes and then votes for who to kill. The twist is that no one may look at their id during the day except the person who started the round. Thus, a great debate over who did what ensues as everyone scrambles to simultaneously gather information and convince a majority not to kill them. Assumptions should never be made hastily since there's a very high chance that you yourself may not be who you started as. If a good guy is killed the bad guys win, and vice versa. . At first, one night revolution is a bit jarring if you've ever played the resistance or its sister avalon. It has a familiar theme consistent with coup and resistance, but does not actually follow either game's mechanics. You start off as either bad or good, and by the end of the game no one will know (without interrogating your fellow players) whose team anyone is really on. This departs from the resistance, which this game most closely resembles, in that you have no loyalty to your team. Once the day phase happens, no one can look at their id cards, which necessitates the job of questioning your mates to figure out who switched or looked at what during the night, keeping in mind that giving them too much information could end up costing you the game. So it's really a game of personal survival rather than teamwork. . In comparison to one night werewolf, revolution has both pros and cons. It benefits from the specialist role mechanic which eliminates the need for a moderator completely. All of the game pieces are substantially sized and high quality. And lastly, and perhaps the most striking feature for me, it delivers the same type of game with a minimum of three players. I find the player number to be a huge limiter with most social deduction games and i welcome the ability to play with a small group. . On the other hand, if you regularly have a large group of people, one night werewolf has a more appealing and exciting theme. Also, there is an app that can be used in place of the moderator. . So my final conclusion is that one night revolution is more versatile than werewolf, but lacks the visually engaging artwork. Nonetheless it is a truly fascinating game that can be played within 10 minutes or so and is mentally and socially engaging.

(0) Question: As a huge fan of resistance, would this be a good game for when we have fewer than 5 people?

We love coup, and after playing one night werewolves with friends decided to try this out. I wasn't sure how it would go without an app to guide us, but we picked it up quickly and really enjoyed it. There is a different feel when the game is over so quickly but you get to play lots of rounds which makes it fun. For gaming reference, we love coup, citadels, dominion, catan, and munchkin.

Such a fun addition the resistance universe. It is much easier since you don't have to keep with your lies for several "missions. " it is a new identity every round. Much less stressful

A. Neva, Hessen

A great game. Plays fast and you can use it with a large group. Special abilities give an extra twist that creates a different scenario for every single round. Set it once and you'll find yourself playing at least 5-6 rounds, at least.

O. Mathis, South Carolina says

Great game. I play resistance, coup (and all the expansions reguarly. ) i was a backer of this kickstarter. I have played this with 8 people and it was a blast. I would definitely recommend. The game plays faster then traditional resistance, but still requires the ability to bluff and to deduce what really happened. . To those who are saying that the game is not fun because it takes little effort to find out who the informants are, i say that you may be correct. Like any deduction game, if you can not bluff or lie, the game will be easy to figure out. If you are able to do so, then this will be a great game just like resistance. . For reference, here are some other games i regularly play and enjoy. Coup (reformation). Coup g:54 rebellion. Resistance. Star realms. Elderitch horror. Ultimate werewolf. Spartacus
