Infantino Grow- -me Activity Gym Ball Pit (206-747) 335

Review for infantino grow me activity ball

Price was $41.88. We have been so glad we purchased this play mat! our little one has loved playing on it. It's great that a one time purchase can morph into new toys as she grows. I gave 4 stars because i wish it were washable, although it is easy to wipe down. We just always kept a blanket or burp rag under her while she was on it during the spit stage. Seems to be pretty sturdy so far. She's 9mo old and pulls on the net pretty hard and so far no rips! . Overall great purchase!

Introduction

I love the concept of this activity center. There are so many different baby products out there and i am a big fan of anything that can grow with baby so that it will last more than just a month or two. Our little guy is only 2 months old, so we have just begun using dangling toys and haven't used the balls yet. I think he will love it when he's older and can have his own ball pit. The issue that i have now is that developmentally, our baby is ready to swat at toys and reach for them, but the toys are too high up and he can't reach them unless one of us sits next to the mat and bends the top bars down towards him. Our other play mat has the toys a little lower and he loves it, so i'm hoping when he grows a little bigger we'll be able to let him play with this one too. It was easy to set up and is super cute so i do recommend it! Infantino Grow-with-me Activity Gym and Ball Pit Review (206-747)

I love this product and i love that it can grow with your child. It's a great mat for "tummy time" for new babies, a good place to practice rolling over for babies a little bit older, and an even better place for even older babies who are able to sit up! the ball pit is so cool and my little guy loves it. It's nice that the balls are conveniently stored right in he turtles head so you don't misplace various pieces that get separated from one another. All baby paraphernalia is more expensive than even seems reasonable. But this is one thing that's totally worth the money since it can be used for so long! -M. Russell

I would give more than 5 stars if i could. I love this thing! my baby loves this thing! its very cute and colorful. He is only 4 months old, so i added some extra links to let him reach the toys. We keep the net part up and he loves kicking it. The toy is no worse for the wear. We also bought an infantino fish and turtle (that matches this turtle) linkable toys to add to/trade out with the toys it comes with for variety (it has 8 spots for toys on the arches and at least 4 around the rim of the net ring thing). The only thing that made me hesitate about buying this was no music or lights like lots of the others have, but i figured out a way to solve it. We ordered a battery operated music box meant for a mobile and plan on zip tying it to the top center where the arches cross. Right now, he enjoys it without the music though so it was probably unnecessary. He screeches and rolls around to play with the different toys. This morning he was good for a whole hour playing in there by himself while i pumped! i really like that he can yank on the toys and the arches will bend down to accommodate that without collapsing, and then they sort of spring back to the normal position when he lets go. He can get everything in his mouth, unlike the other play gym we have that has no give to it (and that he can pull down on top of himself if he tries). He also enjoys tummy time on the mat- he tries to grab the animals printed there. One final observation in this toy's favor: babies are only content to lay down and bat at toys for so long, but because this has the ball pit feature, he will continue to use it even when the traditional play mat aspect gets boring for an older baby. The balls store perfectly in the turtle head and since the opening is small, only one ball can go in or out at a time which i think will help keep them stored and not all over the house when not in use. Some reviews complain that it is too small- i disagree. My baby is long and he can fit in it laying down just fine (and has room to roll and spin around). The sides are stretchy and he likes to kick- you also could always lower the sides making it a mute point (he can hang off the edge). By the time he is playing with the balls he will be sitting in it and it is more than enough room for that in my opinion. We originally bought this to go to grandmas but now i like it so much that it's staying here and he is getting another ball pit type toy for grandmas (although not nearly as cute as this turtle, but we figured variety was better than 2 of the same). This is the longest review i have ever written- i really do love it this much!

She is 9 months now, and she still plays in the ball pit regularly. The "feet" on the activity mat have crinkle paper inside of them, and my daughter has always been a big fan of that! the mat is very lightweight, and the toys that hang from the arcs are really cute. I believe the care instructions for all of the pieces say only to wipe with a damp cloth, but i've put the hanging toys through the washing machine with cold water on gentle and hung them to dry, and they are holding up fine. My only complaint is that the mat itself cannot be machine-washed. It is my opinion that all toys for babies should be dishwasher and/or washing machine safe! babies spit up and have blowouts, and they are tiny little masters of destruction. Why would anything for them be made too delicate to be washed in a machine? ! other than that, this activity mat is great. The colors are bright and happy, and my daughter has gotten a lot of use from this thing!"

The F.A.Q. for Infantino Grow- -me Activity Gym Ball Pit (206-747)

I bought this mat to use as a ball pit and though it was smaller than i had imagined it has been a big hit with my almost 7 month old (19 pound ) baby. This ball pit cannot keep her contained, however it is great for when she needs some play time in the pit. We have been using the tiny love super deluxe activity gym (which could keep her entertained for hours) from she was 2 months till recently. However she is now at the creeping stage and though she still enjoyed the dangling animals on the tiny love mat from time to time, she was more interested in moving around the room. To transition her from her tiny love mat, i am now using this infantino mat with its arches attached with its hanging toys so she can continue mouthing & grasping at them whenever she feels the need. At its highest reach, the hanging toys are dangling around her face when seated, so i have place the toys at the lowest loops on the arch. There are also 4 additional loops around the top perimeter of the ball pit which i sometimes use to play some of the hanging toys. This mat is smaller than the tiny love super deluxe mat, but it is more fun for an older baby.

A number of questions have been asked here.

My son (3 months) loves this gym, he specially enjoys being able to kick the polls with his legs and make all the toys rattle. The lower toys are within his hands reach and he spends long time practicing his motor skills trying to grab them. The flexible design of the polls also means that he can pull the toys towards his mouth once he manages to catch them. He can sometimes spend up to one hour looking around and being content and entertained which gives us much appreciated rest from holding him in our arms! . This is so far the most successful gym/toy our son got, and we even went ahead and bought it as a present to couple of other parents we know. . Only con: the mat is not waterproofed (although easily cleaned with a wipe or a wet cloth and dries quickly) , we typically put it on another blanket and not directly on the carpet so when we have accidents it can be easily washed

Best infantino grow- -me activity gym ball pit (206-747) in review

My newborn son isn't even three weeks old yet, and this thing has already paid for itself. We will put him on it a few times a day for 15-20 minute sessions, and he just has a blast looking at all the bold, bright, contrasting colors.   he especially loves the black and white patterns on the arching poles, and the edge of the ball pit net (which is not propped up at the moment, but can be moved up and down by hand when he looks at it for visual stimulation).   the hanging toys are easily detachable and sometimes i'll take the off for him to look at when he's not on the play mat.   i'm excited to see how he will make use of this toy as he grows, and i think it's very cool that this play mat is designed to be fun at multiple stages of development.   so far though, i can say it's definitely a wonderful toy to get for a newborn!

My 2 month old really likes this play gym. The hanging toys and the mat have lots of faces with large eyes which really capture her attention. Also, the feet of the turtle and several toys have the crinkly material which is nice. You can also easily add other toys if your baby has a favorite. I'm looking forward to all the new ways we will be able to play with it as she grows. The only change i would make is that the mat could be more waterproof. It is easy to wipe off any solid material, but it does absorbs liquid spit up. It hasn't stained too much so far, but it's going to get spit up on a lot in the next few months. Overall, i definitely recommend it. Also, very easy to set up, and has a carrying case it can be packed up in.

W. Alexia, South Australia

I set this up today in no more than 5 minutes. Simple set up. My only critique is the size of the hole to put the balls in. Just big enough for one ball at a time. I don't know how practical that will be when my baby is older. . My 2 month old was entertained in this for 20 or so minutes. The black and white patterns are placed well for them to explore visually. At 24 inches long, i don't think he'll fit in it much longer laying down with the net up. But still a fun toy for a baby to grow into. . It's compact and even though it doesn't fold up, it sets up and breaks down so easy. It's not a big deal. . So all in all, happy with my purchase so far. And worth the money. 4 stars because the ball bag opening is small.

G. Ruff, Connecticut says

I bought this for my new niece and she loves it. She could spend hours a day laying on the mat looking at all the toys. There are many places to hang the toys. It's great so you can hang some of them lower when baby is small so they can reach it. As they grow you can hang the toys a bit higher and still make baby stretch to grab the toy. I can't wait until she is old enough to use the ball pit, it looks like she will have a blast with it. My sister just needs to figure out how to keep her cats from playing with it too!

Who even knew that a 10 week old could even "play"? we have a number of toys for our baby that are supposedly for newborns and up, but really our baby has had no interest in these toys. . Pros:. - easy to put together. - hanging toys are actually cute, brightly colored and could be used apart from the gym. - turtle's feet make a crinkly sound that the baby responds to. - the poles have high contrast black and white that infants eyes are drawn to. - the poles are very lightweight and flexible so that the baby can kick them, which causes the hanging toys to move. - lightweight and easy to move. . Cons:. - not machine washable. - putting balls into turtle's head is a bit time consuming since you really can only put one in at a time. . I haven't set up the ball pit, but already the gym has exceeded my expectations. My baby really seems to enjoy the gym. It also looks much better than in the picture. . Update: after 5 1/2 months, my baby is still playing with the gym. I also use the hanging toys apart from the gym. They are convenient as stroller toys and at my diaper station. She can't sit up on her own yet so i haven't set up the ball pit. . Update: at 7 1/2 months we've converted it to the ball pit, though we haven't put the balls in yet. I was concerned that there was no information on the materials of the balls. Sometimes ball pit balls can be made of pvc. I contacted the company and they told me the balls are made of ldpe (low density polyethylene). As far as i know, ldpe is considered a safe material for babies so soon the baby will have a ball pit. Currently it serves as a kind of toy box. I still put her in the pit with all her toys and she's pretty happy in there.

X. Lorenz, Tennessee says

This play gym is definitely different than its counter parts. I love the cute turtle head filled with balls that my baby will play with in future. Had no problems assembling. It was quick n easy. Did not even need to read the instructions. The colors are bright and catchy. My baby loves to play in it. The only drawback and the reason to lose one star is its size. My 4 month old's feet are sticking out of it. Its such a wonderful idea "grow with me" but paired with a small size mat? not a good idea; i read all the reviews and had a hard time deciding which one to buy. Loved this in first look but after reading the size issue explored other options too. But ended up in favor of this one and i can say i do not regret tht cz my baby is happy with her new toy. I recommend this play gym. . I hope my review helps others make a more informed choice. If it does please hit the helpful button below. Thanks

P. Tracey, Thurrock

Tl; dr: this toy has everything i wanted and more. . I bought this product based on the reviews and am floored with how awesome it is. . Seriously, the minute they make this thing in adult size, i'm getting it and never leaving the house. . What i'd been looking for: an activity center that would be suitable for all genders, stay relevant for more than a few months of play, and be durable enough for multiple kids. . Pros:. Bright colors. Neutral motif. The ability to use it with multiple kids and over a large age range. Simple set-up and simple take-down. Easy clean up of your kids' bodily fluids. Lots of tactile toys. Easy storage so that you won't lose parts. . Cons:. The balls are all dented- don't expect chuck-e-cheese quality stuff. -(pro: your kid won't feel bad when they squish the ball! ). -(pro: "inflation" is as easy as poking a hole and blowing into it). If the netting is not erected, it will not allow the play center to lay flat. . Really, the cons are superficial things, as they have nothing to do with what i wanted in the product. My standards a realistic and low as my kids are going to ruin this over the years, anyway. I guess what i'm saying is that if you're looking for absolute perfection, this may not be it. If you're looking for your brood to have a killer time and enjoy themselves as they barf all over this, go for it!

U. Wimbish, Cambridgeshire says

I bought this off of other reviews from moms. My baby loved this for the first month. We've now had it for 3 months. I have not tried the ball pit as my baby is only 4 months old. Here are a list of pros and cons. . Pros. Easy to set up. Bright and colorful-entertaining for baby. I like how my baby can grab a toy and move it to his face because the beams are flexible. I like how you can store the balls in the turtle head. The beams are black and white which are stimulating to young babies who can't fully see yet. Toys easily attach and unattach. You can add more toys easily. I like the idea that it can be used for a longer time, since we'll still be able to use it after my baby can sit. Cons. Most gyms you get to help the baby practice rolling and moving- this gym is small and there's no where for the baby to roll. It's 26 in across and my 4 month old is 25. 5 in. The toys also hang above, and there's nothing on the sides to encourage movement. You can only get the balls in or out one at a time. With 40 balls that can be a pain. It's kind of a pain to store. It folds well, but is an odd shape so we just leave it out which can be a pain sometimes in my 2 bedroom apartment.

V. Hurst, South Dakota

I spent a long time comparing all the different activity mats available but once i saw this one had a ball pit i was sold. My little one was 3 months when i purchased it and it took her a little while to warm up to it, the arms to hold the dangling toys are taller than i expected and she couldn't reach them at first but i used some links to hang the toys closer to her but after a month she has learned to reach for them and loves it! she rolls over onto her tummy now and bats the balls around inside the pit which is great cuz they never get too far away. She can roll herself out of the pit entirely so i can't walk away too far but it occupys her long enough for me to fix myself lunch. I also love that the arms detach so when she's older it can just be a ball pit, we already purchased extra balls!

D. Jarvis, New Mexico says

Love how it grows with the baby, first being used as a tummy time play mat when baby is a newborn and then turning into a ball pit when baby can sit up on his/her own. This allows for longer use. The toys can be clipped in multiple spots (on the over head part or on the ball pit net) . This is nice because parents can change it up a bit and it allows for the toys to still be used with the toy if you decide to take the top part off. My baby has "a ball" playing with it. I love how all the balls can fit in the turtle head making clean up super easy. The only negative is, my daughter is constantly pulling the net down with her hands or simply rolling over it. The foam (noodle like) bars used to hold the net up don't really do their job when the toy is being played with. Therefore it is not great at containing baby or balls. Granted the net will not fall over on its own but as soon as baby grabs it, leans on it, falls on it or rolls over it the net flops down and then you have to take the time to straighten/fix the foam poles, put all the balls that rolled out back into the netted play area and then put baby back in. I find myself doing this at least 2-3 times for each 30 minute play period.

-update- machine washable! . So we had an incident at nana's house where a certain kitty kat peed on the mat. Turns out, this is most definitely washable! i threw this in the washing machine with only a couple other small things, removed the balls (washed those in the sink) and i kept the play pen mesh walls tied down using the velcro so that there wouldn't be anything to get snagged. I had to put the washing machine on a full size load but it worked and the mat didn't get all tangled up, it washed nicely! i lined dried the mat and would not suggest putting this mat in the dryer. Now my baby is around seven months old and has been enjoying the ball pen for quite some time. I leave the hanging things up for him to grab too so he can pick up the balls and pull on things and chew on things. This pen is awesome! . . So awesome. My three month old loves the colors and the contrasting patterns of everything. If you put the fence/netting up then you can lay the baby so their feet can kick the sides and shake the hanging objects which allows for more entertainment. I cannot wait until my baby is old enough to use the ball pit part-how cool is that? ! if you're willing to put up with the fact that those balls will end up all over the house at one point or another ; )

This was a great purchase. When he was a newborn my baby would just lie there on his back looking at the black and white bars overhead and the various toys dangling from all of the loops. Now, 7 months later he loves to crinkle the noisy feet and shake the bars causing all the toys to fling all over. He doesn't really care for the balls except to try chewing on them every now and then but i have a feeling that within a month or two he will love being in the mini ball pit. . As the name suggests, this offers something for the child from the beginning and keeps them entertained as they grow.

Our daughter is still too young for the ball pit but we use it as a gym and she's absolutely fascinated by it! we started using it when she was about 3-4 weeks old. She's now 7 weeks old and we use it almost every day. My only complaint is that the hanging toys are a bit hard to remove or hang but most of the time we leave them hanging so it's not really a problem. We love this product and we got many complements on it from guests. . Update: at 3 months she loves to kick one of its sides and watch all the hanging toys move. She can easily spend 30 minutes in this thing, entertaining herself! . . Update 2: at 6 months she's already rolling and starts pushing herself around, and spends time mostly on her tummy. Therefore, she's much less interested in the gym at this stage. However, when she's able to sit on her own we're planning on starting to use the ball pit and hopefully she'll enjoy it as much as she enjoyed the gym.
