This lego technic drag racer was very fun to build. It took approximately 5 hours to build (i was taking my time and enjoying the build) it's really cool to watch some of the mechanism you build come together into a fully functioning toy. Only ting you have to be careful about is the direction book, in some case the gray pieces look like the black pieces and can cause some confusion. Overall, great product and fun build! I do have a big gripe, however. When i was a kid, these sets came with instructions to build both primary and secondary models, minimum. Not so anymore, at least, not with this set. This is not your lego from the 80's, this is definitely more advanced and fun to build. It's a really big build too, and when you see that the designers gave this vehicle working camshafts and cylinders, a gear shifter that has f/n/r (forward, neutral and reverse) which, when you adjust it, it actually changes the way everything rotates (if you're just looking at the cams/engine and rolling the wheels to see the motion, like i did), plus steering and shocks. . I'm adding photos so you can see the steps, from opening each of the 4 boxes, and the manual for it is well over an inch (2. 5 cm) thick.

This is the best technic set that lego produced since legendary 8448. It's perfection starts with unpacking and reading through model design intro followed by very interesting set construction. Looks like creators enchanted it with lots of porsche magic so you will be endlessly enjoying process from the first brick till every single glimpse on it while standing on your favorite shelf. This is by far the best lego piece of art to build. 2704 pieces of pure artwork. Took me 3 days to build as i wanted to enjoy it. All the mechnism is working very well yet maybe they could have made the outer body a little bit more stronger, it looks a little bit week especially if you have handed over to your boy to play with it for few minutes.
- R. WeberJust. Wow. I have been building legos for over 35 years and i remember building some of the earliest technic sets when they came out in the 80s. I had the initial auto chassis model, and a subsequent one, among others. Never once do i remember feeling upon opening the box that i was completely overwhelmed. But let me clarify, i am overwhelmed in a good way. I am overwhelmed by the complexity of the set, the attention to detail of the set, the collaboration with porsche, the introduction of 30+ pages in the book, and everything else about this. It is simply the most amazing construction set by any manufacturer i have ever seen. That said, if you have no idea what a lego technic set is, don't buy this as your first one. You will not enjoy it if you don't know what you're doing, and this one requires that you do.
I haven't finished building it yet, but so far i love it! no complaints other than it would be nice if it was designed with a means to view the engine and gearbox internals after the build. Everything get hidden as the build continues.
