These are awesome. We bought these for my 2 year old after our baby was born so he would have something he could play independently with while we were paying attention to the baby. Both the 2 year old and the 5 year old love to play with them together. My 2 year old loves to stick them together in different patterns. My 5 year old loves to build designs. I can't wait to buy more sets and add to the fun because this will be fun for years and years to come. . We don't have any problems with plastic breaking and i doubt we will. My 2 year old is pretty rough with his toys and i don't think we will have any problems with these holding up. Since they are magnetic, we can take them with us and don't have to worry about pieces falling out in the travel time. . This is definitely a fun toy that promotes creativity and imagination. It is worth the investment.

I bought the first small set of 32 pieces 4 years ago and kept saying, i gotta buy another one, but balked at the price. But interestingly, over those 4 years, my son kept saying, i love this set, i wish i had more pieces. So i finally realized that all the toys that were inexpensive only entertained him for a few uses and now they sit scattered all over the house, unused. With this toy, more pieces is better than less. Get the larger set and then every christmas and birthday, buy another set to increase the building power. It will be the toy of choice in power failures, long car rides, or just rainy afternoons. My son can play alone or with others and still enjoys this toy. Phenomenal value that will last you many many years. The pieces are very durable and unlike leggos, they don't stay in a permanent form that only get played with once. You create something and admire it and half the fun is squishing it all down! we love that part! it goes back in a ziploc and stays nice and neat. Because all the pieces stick together in a lump from the magnets, you won't find the pieces all over your house nor vacuum them up. My 4 year old grandson loves his set. He just turned four. His little brother who will be turning two shortly (in a few weeks) loves the set as well. He is getting the super ones which are bigger. This toy is very durable and i put it in the same category as legos and wooden blocks as it will be a keeper for a long time. The set leads to creativity which is wonderful. There are many other sets to order so the collection can grow as the child ages. He is already asking for the dinosaur set which he will get for christmas. The magnetic quality is great with this set. With many magnetic items the magnets are weak but not with these. My girlfriend had bought these for her grandchildren and set they have had the set for years and it looks as new as the day they bought despite the fact they get used all the time, even the adults enjoy them. I can't wait to buy more sets. I also can't wait to see how the 2 year old plays with the bigger set. My only complaint is that i thought the pieces were going to be bigger especially in the super set.

- P. LewisMy kids are loving these things! these were one of the deals of the day, so i purchased two packs of them. They are kind of expensive. However, i would recommend buying two packages, as one package doesn't have enough pieces to do everything that you will want to do with them. I have two kids, and with two boxes they are able to build a lot of different things. There is also a booklet that it comes with to show you how to build a few different things. All-in-all, it was a great purchase. Better than video games! with these kinds of toys, kids learn to be creative and to build things.

I had been thinking about getting these for a while, and am so glad i finally decided to. My son, who just turned 2 yrs old, loves playing and experimenting with them. I brought them to a wedding as a quiet activity he could do during the ceremony and they did not disappoint. My niece (7 yrs old) and nephew (4 yrs old) also enjoyed playing with them and what they created from the 30 pieces varied by their age, but it was definitely an activity that kept them engaged for a while. With my 2 year old, we talk about the colors and shapes as he builds towers. He likes to match the colors too. The magnets are strong and they seem durable. We will probably buy more in the future, as the only downfall of this set is there are only two shapes. Overall, a great open-ended toy that my son will be enjoying for many years to come.

Before i bought this set, i read some people mentioned that this set is 1) thinner than the regular set, 2) seems to be more fragile, and 3) not compatible with the regular set. . For now, my son and i have been playing with this set and two regular sets for more than two months. 1) as soon as i opened this set, i noticed that this set is thinner and lighter than the regular set. 2) i did not see any issues with this set being fragile (or easily broken). 3) also, we did not have any issue playing this set with other sets. Even though this set is thinner, there was no difference in magnetic strength. (i am not sure if there is a different manufacturer, but for my set with magformers name on the box there has been no issue)

I bought magformers more than a year ago. Mainly for the eldest son (5 years old). This is actually my first magformers set so i can not compare it with other magformers sets. But i would like to note that this toy has become one of the favorite toys not only my son, but my daughter (2 years). This year my children don't lost any ! details on this set and retained package where each time put all its elements. (in the picture how it looks now). I also noticed that this toy develops creativity and gives the opportunity to my child to become a true inventor. I often join the game and get great pleasure to play with them. As for the problems, as i said i did not have occasion to try different magformers sets so i can not comment on the views of many people who wrote feedback about quality of elements of this magformers set compare with other. This is the fourth set that i have bought for my great- grand kids and they love them all. They especially wanted this set because they needed the hexagons. The sets are all different, but they all work together. I also bought extra wheels so they could make their projects mobile. Cleanup is easy, but i do have them keep these magnets separate from their other toys. My only disappointment is that magformers doesn't make extra pieces to purchase separately so they don't get so many of the same pieces by adding sets. That way we could buy more pieces and it would be more economical to the parents. See what you can do, online store.

My almost 3 year old son is really interested in them. He doesn't "get" how to build quite yet, but will easily grow into them. My 8 year old daughter and 39 year old (heehee . Husband! ) had a lot of fun seeing all the different types of vehicles they could build with these. They also built some building structures. We purchased these while still on vacation to save for our son's birthday and they had arrived the day we got home. Wtg online store! 2 day shipping ended up taking only 1 day. Our daughter was so into playing with these, that we let them start playing with them yesterday. I am sure we will add on later so they have even more pieces. I think the set it adequate but i imagine how much further their imaginations will stretch with more pieces. A good investment for a building toy. Our older daughter with down syndrome seemed intrigued by the magnetic workings of the pieces also.

These magformers lets your creative senses to come out in full flow as there are so many things that you can build with them. Some reviewers are complaining that this particular set is of inferior quality but what they don't realize is that this is the cruizer set which needs lighter and thinner material so that you can build moving objects out of it. I also have the a magformers 62 piece designer set and they are more sturdier because they are for a different purpose. . Overall a very nice idea and i am sure most kids would love to have it.

Gosh - sure are a lot of various magnetic construction sets out there! i'd heard about them as i was looking around for christmas ideas for our 4-1/2 year old grandson, but also got a little confused - there are so many to choose from, including magformers, super magformers, magna-tiles, playmags, picasso tiles, tegu blocks, and each of them has fans! after reading up on each, i settled on this 62-piece basic set - they're pricey, as far as the size of our wallet, but i like the cutouts on these that should make them easier for our grandson to hold - super magformers have cutouts as well, but they're larger than these regular ones (though i do hear that neither type of magformers stand up on their own due to their rounded sides, and the insides of the shapes have cylindrical magnets which spin around, so you have to stack them one by one - takes a bit longer to clean up after play and takes up a bit more space from what i can gather. ) i'm considering tegu - which are actually wooden magnetic blocks - for our 2 year old grandson, but i think our 4-1/2 year old little guy will really get a kick out of these! . . As the description says, there are 12 pentagons, 20 triangles and 30 squares. The sides of each pentagon and square are 2-1/2", and of each traiangle are 2". I love that each shape is a striking 2-tone color, whether turquoise/dark blue, yellow/pink, purple/green orange/red - very cool looking and eye-catching! there's a model booklet enclosed that shows a variety of available sets. With this particular set, your youngster can build things like a hourglass, fish, heart, microphone, house, ufo, a couple of different rockets, stars and buildings, 3-d shapes like a cube or hexagonal prism, and others i've never heard of but are sure fun to try and pronounce. Tetrahedron, octahedron, cuboctahedron, icosahedron, dodecahedron, icosidodecahedron and rhombicuboctahedron - goodness gracious! (one thing to note. I took a "sneak peek" - as grandmas are allowed to do! - and while the outside box is sturdy, the tray inside that holds the shapes is super flimsy. Might want to have something else available to store the pieces in. )
