We have a basic magformers set and i bought this space traveler set to add on. It's really cute - i love the alien! i took off one star because the alien can't really be moved around or popped out. My kids like to build rocket ships and little houses for the alien so he's been a big hit. They are 3 and 5. The price on these sets is out of this world too. Meaning expensive. -Z. Laura

These are awesome. We bought these for my 2 year old after our baby was born so he would have something he could play independently with while we were paying attention to the baby. Both the 2 year old and the 5 year old love to play with them together. My 2 year old loves to stick them together in different patterns. My 5 year old loves to build designs. I can't wait to buy more sets and add to the fun because this will be fun for years and years to come. . We don't have any problems with plastic breaking and i doubt we will. My 2 year old is pretty rough with his toys and i don't think we will have any problems with these holding up. Since they are magnetic, we can take them with us and don't have to worry about pieces falling out in the travel time. . This is definitely a fun toy that promotes creativity and imagination. It is worth the investment.

I bought the first small set of 32 pieces 4 years ago and kept saying, i gotta buy another one, but balked at the price. But interestingly, over those 4 years, my son kept saying, i love this set, i wish i had more pieces. So i finally realized that all the toys that were inexpensive only entertained him for a few uses and now they sit scattered all over the house, unused. With this toy, more pieces is better than less. Get the larger set and then every christmas and birthday, buy another set to increase the building power. It will be the toy of choice in power failures, long car rides, or just rainy afternoons. My son can play alone or with others and still enjoys this toy. Phenomenal value that will last you many many years. The pieces are very durable and unlike leggos, they don't stay in a permanent form that only get played with once. You create something and admire it and half the fun is squishing it all down! we love that part! it goes back in a ziploc and stays nice and neat. Because all the pieces stick together in a lump from the magnets, you won't find the pieces all over your house nor vacuum them up. My 4 year old grandson loves his set. He just turned four. His little brother who will be turning two shortly (in a few weeks) loves the set as well. He is getting the super ones which are bigger. This toy is very durable and i put it in the same category as legos and wooden blocks as it will be a keeper for a long time. The set leads to creativity which is wonderful. There are many other sets to order so the collection can grow as the child ages. He is already asking for the dinosaur set which he will get for christmas. The magnetic quality is great with this set. With many magnetic items the magnets are weak but not with these. My girlfriend had bought these for her grandchildren and set they have had the set for years and it looks as new as the day they bought despite the fact they get used all the time, even the adults enjoy them. I can't wait to buy more sets. I also can't wait to see how the 2 year old plays with the bigger set. My only complaint is that i thought the pieces were going to be bigger especially in the super set.

We have tried to many different kinds of magnetic and building toys but none even come close to these. My son absolutely loves them! they're pricey but well worth it for us because of how much he loves them! my other two children also love them. It's easy to build shapes and buildings. They love to play 'guess what i built'.

I had been thinking about getting these for a while, and am so glad i finally decided to. My son, who just turned 2 yrs old, loves playing and experimenting with them. I brought them to a wedding as a quiet activity he could do during the ceremony and they did not disappoint. My niece (7 yrs old) and nephew (4 yrs old) also enjoyed playing with them and what they created from the 30 pieces varied by their age, but it was definitely an activity that kept them engaged for a while. With my 2 year old, we talk about the colors and shapes as he builds towers. He likes to match the colors too. The magnets are strong and they seem durable. We will probably buy more in the future, as the only downfall of this set is there are only two shapes. Overall, a great open-ended toy that my son will be enjoying for many years to come.

This is the best investment you can make for a child ages 3+. My daughter is 5 and this is her go-to toy when she is alone or with playmates. I have bought additional sets as some of the designs require more pieces. Expensive but it pays for itself. My 11 year old nephew even enjoyed it! great for motor skills and creative development.

I bought this set to get the 3x1 sections which are hard to come by but great for building cars. It annoys me that you can't buy parts separately and they don't have more of the 3x1's to go on the wheels (you are meant to use a 1x1 and 2x1's but they collapse in the middle! ) i would buy this in addition to a set but as a stand alone one there isn't that much you can do. Magformers are the best gifts for kids. Allows them to be creative and think. However, you need more then one small set of them in order to really build something. I would suggest getting this and one of the largest sets as well. This set is good because it has moving pieces and a variety of colors.
