Mysterium Hidden Signs Board Game (Asmodee) 3643

Review for mysterium hidden signs board

Price was $23.99. A great addition to the game - it adds more cards (more of the same) - does not add to the game mechanics. This is like getting an expansion for dixit (which i recommend using in this game, if you're looking for more variety - or vice versa). Everything is good with this, why not a five star? it's not necessary to have, it doesn't really do much, but add variety - which is what it's supposed to do - just not a must have expansion.

Time Stories Board Game

This game is amazing especially with all the expansions coming out. Look, people will complain about this game but the truth is that this game offers different twist and it makes you think about what move you should do next. This game does not take 2 hours, it will most likely take 5 to 6 hours. Do yourself a favor and don't cheat or write anything down. Think of yourself going into the matrix, would you take a pen and paper? this game is rated 1 in 2015 for a reason. Take a look at dice tower review. I love games that are different than all other types. . The expansion 'the mercy case' provides a different feel from the first scenario. This is not a spoiler but the scenario included with 'time stories' deals with puzzles and 'the mercy case' is mostly combat. Each scenario is different and the type and feel is different. Purchase this game and play as a group without smartphones or any writing materials and see for yourself how great it really is, smile. :)

It has been a grueling training regiment at the academy, but you're finally ready for your first mission as a full-fledged t. I. M. E. Agent. You and your team will travel back (or forward) in time to prevent some cataclysmic event. But don't waste a moment. Every second counts! in t. I. M. E. Stories, you will work cooperatively with a team to solve a mystery taking place in a different era. Each team member will enter a shell of someone alive at the time and gain their physical strengths and weaknesses. If you can't complete the adventure in time you'll be sent back to the start of the mission for another attempt. Each t. I. M. E. Stories deck is a new scenario waiting to be discovered! when are we this time.

Time Stories Board Game (Asmodee) FAQ.

An extremely fun, very inventive game. It plays more or less like the old lucasart point & click adventure games, but it's cooperative and has the fun "groundhog-day" time-travel motif. Basically, your team wanders the map and uncovers clues, items, and secret locations. Once your time limit is up, you get shunted back to the future where you do a little postmortem discussion and planning before resetting the game and starting again. The team slowly figures out the optimal path and solves the mystery after many playthroughs. This may sound tedious, but it's really not, it's designed very well! . . Here's a spoiler-free hypothetical example of play: for instance, on your first mission you might go search the attic and find nothing. Then you encounter a burglar on the balcony and waste time fighting him. Heading downstairs, you find a locked chest in the parlour that cannot be opened. Wandering into the kitchen, a housekeeper tells you that there is a master key hidden in a box in the attic, but now you're out of time. Game over! . . Then you all sit around and discuss. "so this time, let's go straight to the attic, but now we know the key is in that box so we don't have to waste time talking to the housekeeper. We get the key, avoid the balcony and the burglar, head straight to the parlour and open the chest! ". . . That's the gist of it. Over multiple playthroughs your team will figure out the red herrings to ignore, the vital encounters to progress, and in what order to accomplish everything. It's a very satisfying model of play. Mechanically, it is super simple- the joy is in the exploration, discovery, and planning. Once this mission is finished (2-4 game sessions, typically), you'll have to buy expansions for more missions, which is a money sink but we found it worthwhile. -Notice from J. Laura, Medway

I highly recommend time stories. This game is nuts. It takes you through a mystery adventure to do your job as a time agent and save time! the mystery, exploration, excitement, and teamwork in this game are fantastic. A game will take 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 hours, but it's some of the best 4 hours i've ever spent. . There is not a lot of replay value in this one box, but it's still worth it: you can re-live the joy by sharing the experience with more friends (guide them through as a game master) or keep adventuring by buying more expansions.

- E. KathlenePerhaps my least favorite expansion for time stories so far. It's still fun and the art is great, but i think the device they used to "solve" the case could have been improved. . There's also a major part of the game that can be easily missed, and that small detail will cause the game to completely stall out. If you're playing this game for the first time, i would recommend being extremely thorough. This didn't come up in my first play through, but i tried it again with a different group and they basically hit a dead end and gave up. . If you own time stories, this expansion is worth having, it's simply not the best one they've released.

One of the most fun games i've played in a while. I love that everyone works together and the narrative of the story is thoroughly engaging. The only downside is you really can only play each deck once because you've solved all the puzzles when you are done. But i cant wait to play all the expansions!

Codenames Pictures Card Game

We love codenames, but a picture s worth 1-20 words! the possibilities are much more diverse with the great mixed up silly pictures they used. . One of the few times the sequal surpasses the original imho.

The two rival spymasters know the secret identities of 25 agents. Their teammates know the agents only by their code names. The teams compete to see who can make contact with all of their agents first. Spymasters give one-word clues that can point to multiple pictures on the board. Their teammates try to guess the pictures of the right color while avoiding those that belong to the opposing team. And everyone wants to avoid the assassin. Code names pictures: win or lose, it's fun to figure out the clues.

Codenames Pictures Card Game (Czech Games) FAQ.

I got both the pictures and regular codenames versions of this game for holiday family gaming and these were a hit. Even the non-gamers liked it and were talking about it the next day. The game play was deceptively simple and easy to learn-always a bonus-but made for a unique and challenging game each time it was played. And it was played again since everyone liked it and decided to play it again the next night instead of trying a new game. So this earns a place in our games library and a place on gift lists when looking for an affordable gift. We had family 11 years old to 70+ play it together so it appeals to a wide audience, too. . Since this is a vine review, i want to explain that i bought both of these games before the holidays and later was offered a free copy of the pictures version through vine after we had played it a few nights. I decided to get the second set since it was a hit so i could share with the family that loved it so much. This was our successful winter holiday 2016 game and i'll take it to the beach for our next family gathering this summer. -Notice from W. Patricia, Utah

This game is so much fun. We play it with all ages, even kids as young as 12. I like that it's so simple to play: everyone can just gather around and talk about their guesses. Very little organization and very few rules needed. We put the 5x4 card array on an old cafeteria tray so that we can turn it as needed. I liked it so well that i bought another as a gift. When it arrived damaged, the company sent me a new one immediately. What a great company! i'll definitely order from them again because i like to reward good customer service!

- X. RochelleGreat addition to the codenames brand. Game is easy to set up, explain, and play. Rounds are quick and can be played multiple times. Fun game for parties.

This game is so much fun for both people who have and have not played the original codenames word game. . Basic idea: you have a bunch of cards with random photos on it. The best way to describe the cards is as if you had a random word generator, generated two words, and made it a thing. For example, ice and horse. You get an ice horse, or a horse slipping on ice in a photo. Then you lay out a random set of picture cards in a 5 x 4 arrangement on a table. A codemaster card is drawn which has red, blue, neutral, and one black tile labeled that coordinates to the 5 x 4 arrangements, which is randomized on each card so there are tons of options (think of this like a "key" to the map where the map is the board). 2 people get to be "codemasters" who will each pick out a team and delegate out one clue to by taking turns. The clue is typically one word and a number (indicating how many photo tiles are related to their word clue). The team that is able to guess all of their team's pictures (red or blue team) first wins. It gets fun and ballsy to see risky plays where someone tries general clues and says there are 4-6 tiles related to it. Promise its fun for groups of all sizes. Kids can play too. We play at home with friends and with friends at work during lunch all the time, and the codenames series has been the favorite for both people who do and do not normally play board games. It is so easy to pickup and introduce new players and to make new friends within a group. . Additionally, this game has so much replay value, between the different tile card photos, different players, different people as codemasters, and different options for code tiles. I honestly even think you could mix and match with regular codenames and undercover codenames to expand it all into one big deck. It is a little harder to work on large teams with a big group of people unless you all sit really close. Since there are no words, you have to point at the picture of the card and not touch it to generate discussion with friends and this is a little harder than saying a word (as it was in the original game). Not that this is a bad thing, but it is better with groups of people who are smaller than 8 i would say and who are sitting relatively close together. I think it is the most fun with 6-8 people. 4 can be too small since it feels very 2 vs. 2, with no one to discuss with. I recommend to get both this game and the original codenames, both are fun in their own ways and bring fun to the table.

Betrayal House on Hill: Widow's Walk Board Game

I love the new expansion. More rooms, fantastic new haunts, interesting omens. The new mechanic of dumb-waiters is also really useful for anyone on a 5-6 room path away from the landings. The character tokens are also useful for remembering which room buffs we've already received. Though, they are very easily lost being so small. One of my favorite new cards is the "what year is it? " event card that causes either side to read the flavor text, thus giving the other side some advantage during the haunt. Of the new omens, box is the most amusing, cat is one of the most powerful. . The only downside is i may have to invest in a bigger table in order to play with a full group. The original game just barely fit on the table with all rooms played.

The house on the hill has a wicked reputation. Those who dare to darken its door often leave steeped in madness and despair if they leave at all. Now the horror reaches new heights with widow's walk, the first-ever expansion for the critically acclaimed board game betrayal at house on the hill. The house is expanded with the addition of twenty new rooms, including the roof, a previously unexplored floor. Also in its halls you will find new monsters, items, omens, events, and fifty brand-new haunts, penned by lead developer mike selinker's all-star cast of contributors from the world of gaming and entertainment. In widow's walk, terror and panic are taken to a whole new level. Enter if you dare. Exit if you can.

Betrayal House On Hill: Widow's Walk Board Game (Avalon Hill) FAQ.

Fantastic expansion. This is he rare expansion which actually adds to the game without taking anything away. The game is played exactly the same, though 50 new haunts are possible in addition to the original 50. Moreover, somehow the boxed original i bought 3 years ago fits the entire expansion perfectly. No stuffing required. It's as if they new that far in advance how much room the expansion would require and planned accordingly. I can't wait to play more of this game. -Notice from S. Carmen, Ohio

My boyfriend and kids love playing the main game this extension goes with, so i bought this for my boyfriends birthday and we're all very happy with it. Definitely a hard game to play, especially with kids (10-13) because the haunts can be a bit confusing, especially since it's a different one each time, but so much fun to not know what you're going to be dealing with when the haunt happens!

Betrayal-house-on-hill:-widow's-walk-board-game-(avalon-hill) set picture

- K. PatriciaOne thing i was worried about an expansion for betrayal was that it'd make it too hard to get to the right room or uncover the right omen with a larger volume. Luckily the expansion has many built-in mechanics that prevents these issues while also doubling the number of haunts and adds some extra terrifying moments, like a nursery. Yeah. Anyways. I highly recommend it. It's very affordable and all the expansion pieces will fit in the original box with the base game so you don't need to carry around the expansion box if you don't want.

Love this expansion so far! so many unique new haunts to play and we haven't even gotten through them all yet. Betrayal at house on the hill is my favorite board game and i'm so happy they came out with this expansion. They got so many fantastic contributors to design 50 new haunts. The game already had great replay value, but now even more so! if you own the original game, you definitely should get this expansion!

Deception: Murder in Hong Kong

This game feels like clue without all the moving around on the board. Its a fantastic logic game where you talk with the other players to try to deduce the murder scenario that has taken place based on clues provided by the forensic scientist while the murderer tries to mislead the group. . Great replay value, and everyone i've played with has enjoyed it. I recommend at least 4 people to fully enjoy the game. . Pros:. -fun discussions. -fun for bigger groups. -easy to introduce. . Cons:. -a bit unbalanced against the murderer, as they rarely win when i've played. -might not be good for quiet/shy people, as it requires lots of discussion

In deception: murder in hong kong, players find themselves in a scenario of intrigue and murder, deduction and deception. One player is the murderer, secretly choosing their weapon and the evidence they leave behind. Another is the forensic scientist who holds the key to convicting the criminal but is only able to express their knowledge through analysis of the scene. The rest are investigators, interpreting the clues to solve the crime and the killer is among them.

Deception: Murder in Hong KongDeception-Murder-in-Hong-Kong

Deception: Murder In Hong Kong (Grey Fox Games) FAQ.

*update*. Kids on christmas break played no less than 20 rounds of this game and didn't want to stop. Next day, they asked if we could play again. My 18yr old, who is ultra competitive, even wanted to play. Why he would like this, is because the player interaction outweighed any frustrations he may have with having to wait on people to make a decision. Raising the review a star because they really, really like it! . . By the way, out of 20 games, our group of five players (ages 12 to 40-something) only won once as the investigators. The murderer won ever time. The success of the investigators hinges primarily on the forensic scientist (most difficult role to play) in guiding the investigators as best as possible. . In a six player game you now add in the roles of accomplice and witness. Our investigators won 60% of the time, thanks to the witness. . . Overview:. Reprint of csi files, which i never played but have heard good things about. Initial concept is similar to mafia, werewolf, ect. Where you are using deduction to guess the identify of someone. . One person is the forensic scientist and one is the murder. These are the must-have roles. You may have the optional witness or an accomplice, depending on number of players. Most of the cards are all the different causes of death. . The forensic scientist will use tiles to give the other players clues (without talking) by putting markers on the tiles. Everyone gets 30-seconds to talk and then a tile is removed and replaced with another tile. This keeps going on until someone spends a token to guess the murderer and players win or murder wins if the guesses are wrong. . Components:. Excellent quality components on tiles, cards and token markers. . Theme:. The added asian symbols makes this feel like i'm an american detective in hong kong working with the other detectives trying to solve the crime. . The team of detectives (players) are simply "reading" the forensic scientist's report and between that and the conversation it feels like the group is really working together to solve the crime. Plus there is the murderer who is a mole in the group. . Learning curve:. Super easy to teach anyone. So easy in fact i guess you could treat this as a gateway game, which means it is easy to introduce to non-gamers and they should be able to have fun without getting overwhelmed by a bunch of rules. . Other notes:. When it is the forensic scientist's turn, they have to keep a straight face through the whole thing or they give away too much information. . When everyone has their heads down and the forensic scientist asks the murder to reveal themselves and point out the causes of death, it really is difficult in these games for folks not to hear or feel the person next to them moving. So people need to be careful and quiet when playing the murderer. . Overall:. This is not exactly my cup-of-tea, but i do like it and have fun. I'm more a 3-4hrs armies battling game kind of guy or tabletop roleplaying game if i was to pick my favorite type of game to play. Maybe i should not ding the review a star, but that's just how i feel about it. . . Right now. . On the other hand, my kids love. Just love playing mafia or werewolf at youth group and this is yet another game they are enjoying adding to the mix. It is a good party game, but requires people who won't cheat, which is why the age requirement is a bit higher than maybe expected (plus the theme has to do with murder). Overall, we really like this and it joins the other 200 games we have on our shelf. . Two-thumbs-up! -Notice from W. Janice, Doncaster

This game has the potential to be in every gaming circle. The resistance + mysterium + maybe a bit of code names. I appreciate that being the bad guy isn't as draining as maybe in the resistance or similar hidden role games because you're not convincing people you are good, you are explaining why somebody else's items make sense. My first time putting it on the table in a group of six and we played 5 rounds before i put it up so we didn't burn out on it! . The only negative is wish the evidence/clue cards were bigger. They can be hard to read. Also the price seems to be going up and down here on online store (i paid $33 and right now it's $38). Overall maybe my favorite hidden roles game!

Deception:-murder-in-hong-kong-(grey-fox-games) set picture

- F. DorothyThis has been a no fail game for any group i've brought it to, whether or not they were experienced board gamers. This is the kind of game that your friends will ask you to break out again the next time they come over. We love all trying to put the murder into a narrative and telling each other how we think it happened. Everyone has these elaborate stories because there are lots of clues, some of which matter and some of which do not. The best way to weed out the clues that don't matter is to work in all the clues into murder story, and see which clues change in the next round. This way, the climax of the game is not like the anti-climactic board game clue, where you would say, "i think john committed the murder with the scarf and left behind the playing card. " it's more like, "ok, i think john was playing a high stakes game of poker in an abandoned factory with someone he met on craigslist. Everyone was dressed warmly because the factory did not have good heating. After winning a big hand, his opponent attempted to argue his way out of paying the debt. There was a scuffle, and in a fit of rage, he strangled the deadbeat to death with his own scarf. " these stories are the highlight of the game. It's the best when the murderer has a really good alternative story that the other players buy into, and after he gets away with the murder, everyone goes back to the clues and realizes how they were duped.

A fun deduction game, and it is a deduction game, you can use information to try to figure out what is going one, meanwhile the killer is trying to bend the situation to make it look like others are guilty. Have played this game several times and it seems like the detectives are slightly more likely to win, but its pretty close. Also the games go quickly so you will end playing several times.

Cons. * special zombies. * lots of things to remember. * setup and cleanup. * raxxon. * story isn't as good as original. * not as many main objection cards. . (this will basically be the same review for dead of winter). . I pre-ordered this game directly from plaid hat games. . I hate zombies, i am not a zombie fan, in fact, i am sick of the whole zombie craze. This game is freaking awesome! . . Wow, where do i begin with this game. Things you need to do in the game:. - worry about your secret objective. - find the person that is the betrayer (if there is one). - deal with the crisis each round (bad things happen if you don't). - deal with the trash building up. - deal with the main objective. - deal with the crossroad card if it gets played. - deal with feeding all the helpless survivors. - deal with moveing and rolling the exposure die. - deal with the bandits. - deal with raxxon. - deal with the zombies. . Like i said, there is a lot in the game, and it really keeps you on your toes. . I've played with 1 and 4 player games of this, but just like the original, i think it would scale well with 1 - 5. I prefer to play with 2 and 3 players better, mainly because it seems easier, it may not be, just seemed like it. Many of the main objectives and most of the crisis cards say something to the effect of needing say food cards for every non exiled player x2. So if you have 4 players, and nobody has been exiled yet, you need 8 food cards, but you also need food to feed your people. If you only play with 2 people, then you need 4. . The exposure die sucks! every time you move unless your character says otherwise, or you use a card, you need to roll for exposure. This can be anything from nothing happens, to getting a wound (3 kills you), getting frostbite (1 wound each round), or getting bit. Getting bit kills you, if you moved to a location where there are other survivors, one of them is infected, and you can either kill them, or roll the die. If you roll the die, and get anything other than nothing, they die, and another survivor gets infected. Every time someone dies you loose a morale, if morale goes down to 0, you loose. . Some issues with this version. Raxxon, i both love it and hate it. Having to give dice away to 'seal' the special zombies from getting loose every round sucks. My group adds the audio logs that releases the zombies in with the normal search deck. Then, if you search and take the top card, and the next one is an audio log, you have to deal with it. Makes it a bit more dangerous to search there (every search you also have to roll the exposure die). . The bandits suck too. You can kill them, or be their leader if you are not the betrayer and get exiled, but they can take good things from the search piles you need. They also take up space so you can't go there, and help an area get overrun faster! least you can go to their hideout and try and get items back. . Another new good addition to the game are the upgrades you can do to your colony. You can add turrets, hunting blinds, dvd player, gardens, etc. All are very helpful, and is a very welcome addition to the game. . My biggest issue with this version is the story of the game. In the original, you had a good amount of main objectives to pick from, and then read a little story before playing. This one, much less main objectives, and only one that would take 5+ hours to play has a story to read. I personally pick from the original game's main objectives to play this version. . If you are good at keeping track of things, and can deal with the pressure, and anxiety, this is an awesome game! if you are thinking of getting this game, get dead of winter: the long night instead, it is just as good, better in some ways, but worse in others. Still a better copy to get.

Dead of winter: the long night is a standalone expansion for dead of winter: a crossroads game that introduces the raxxon location where horrible experiments will spill out into the town unless players can contain them. The game has players at a new colony location trying to survive with new survivors against brand new challenges. Can you handle being raided by members of other colonies? will you explore more and unravel the mysteries of the raxxon pharmaceutical location to find powerful items but release stronger enemies? or will you upgrade your colony to help it better withstand the undead horde? these are all choices you will get to make in this new set, and if you want, you can mix in the survivors and cards from the original set to increase the variety even more.

Dead Of Winter: Long Night Stand Alone Expansion Game (Z Man Games) FAQ.

What a great game. Basically, dead of winter is a mostly co-operative resource management game and a race against the clock. This is probably our favorite zombie game, definitely easier on the wallet than going 900 bucks into zombicide. Zombies are treated as a resource that needs to be managed, along with food, tools, weapons, helpless and useless mouths to feed, books, and medicine. The game is divided into 2 phases: each players independent turn, and the groups team phase. Every team phase will introduce a new "challenge, " which is just a resource that must be gathered, and donated to the group pile, before all the players' individual turns are over. The group will have a main game goal, which everyone generally tries to accomplish, such as: kill so many zombies, keep people from starving for so long, save so many other survivors. On top of this main goal, each individual player has their own goal to accomplish, and some of them run counter to the main groups goal, a few of them are "betrayal" goals, which usually spell disaster for the main group. In order to win, players must defeat the board's countdown, manage group resources to accomplish the group's goals and challenges, and accomplish their own individual goal. The long night introduces a few new elements, which are mostly beneficial for the players: improvements for the base, additional areas to search, additional items for each area, and 20ish new survivors. On top of these new elements, the generic items have been updated to include additional abilities, and some tokens had reverse sides which turn barricades into explosive traps or useless survivors into unruly survivors for example. We play the snot out of this game. Most scenarios generally take us 2ish hours to play through, setup takes 10-15 minutes. Expect a little longer for your initial runthrough of the game. Couple great elements of this game :. A zombie bite a dead character and the chance to spread the bite. This is great, definitely adds to the survival horror feel, we appreciate this mechanic than those in games like zombicide or last night on earth, where you take multiple zombie bites to kill off a character. Crossroads cards add a semi roleplaying / storytelling element to the game. Each individual player turn someone will draw a card, and check to see if it's circumstances are met. If they have been met, a story gets read, and usually the player who's turn it is usually gets to choose an option, sometimes good, sometimes simply less bad. The game manuals are very clearly written, and include a campaign types playthrough option, which is designed to introduce the newer elements to the expansion gradually (in the long night) or increase difficulty gradually and tell a story in the original game. . Some things to keep in mind. Long night is not required to play the core game. The core game gets mostly replaced with the long night. If you have to choose between one or the other, i would grab the long night first, as it includes more than the original. The original survivors are still very playable in the expansion, as are all of the other cards. You can include 18 or 19 of the survivors from the expansion to the original without any trouble, the other two require elements from the long night to take advantage their abilities. Also, don't ebay the special release characters for $20 each, plaid hat lists them on their website at a reasonable price. One more thing the expansion has over the original, the cardstock / paper stock cutouts for the areas you explore during the game have been replaced with high quality, thick, game board material. Plaid hat, you guys hit the ball outa the park on this one. I laminated my old ones, and i'll probably do it with the new thick cutouts, but it's definitely not necessary. . Dead of winter has replaced last night on earth as our default zombie game, and the game play is different enough that we still play last night on earth also. -Notice from R. Dorothy, Bromley

A truly interesting and fun game! it is really exciting and you find yourself questioning everyone at the table. Think you can survive a zombie apocalypse in the dead of winter? try doing just that, while questioning the motives of the other survivors in the colony. You never know who you can trust (of course, there is a truly co-operative variant that involves a more difficult objective). . The only thing that keeps me from giving 5 stars is the amount of set up and tear down that comes with playing. There is a sometimes overwhelming amount of mechanics and game pieces involved, but trust me it is worth it.

- G. AngelaI'm so excited to play this game, i bought it for the expansion to the original dead of winter so i can't wait to see how it adds to the game. The box did come with some minor damage, but that was most likely due to shipping.

This game is amazing. You can play it solo if you take on a few more characters and just set aside the crossroads cards. It's a load of fun with two players as well if you just set aside the betrayal cards. However when you get a stack of friends together all playing the psychology of the game really shines through in the meta as you and your fellow players discuss, argue, and deceive one another to victory.

For mysterium fans who have played it a lot this is a much needed expansion. For the ghost there are 42 new vision cards that can be used to give clues to the psychics. As of september 2016 you get 7 new suspects, locations, and murder weapons. While i am very happy to have the new cards added into the decks the game publisher really should have made the expansion bigger. I bought both the base set and this expansion from online store and the expansion was only six dollars less than the base set. But you get far fewer cards. Let's hope the publisher releases more cards (go ahead and lose the box if it saves money) at a better price per card. How are the cards? good with the same art style as the base set. Perhaps the publisher could incorporate other illustrators for the vision cards to add variety. Keeping the game fresh really depends on adding more cards into the mix.
