Pandemic Legacy Red Board Game (Z Man Games) 2164

Review for pandemic legacy red board game

Price was 44.01. A game that truly lives up to the hype. . There are already so many great reviews on this game which explain my view so i'm not going to bother with another review of praise, beyond saying it's well deserved. . I bought this on a gamble that i would be able to force the wife to play it with, as she isn't really into playing board games. The good news is she loves it as much as me and she has even been asking me to play it, a first since we discovered crokinole a few years back. . The only negative about this game is that the campaign eventually ends. But i guess all good things must come to an end. . If you are sitting on the fence about getting this game let me give you a little shove to the yes side.

Awesome game! the wife and i love having people over to play the classic pandemic game, but it gets a bit redundant playing with two people after a couple (10+) times. Enter pandemic legacy, with twists and turns that make each month exciting! we are through 7 of the 12 months, but the future looks bleak within our board. Well worth the purchase!

First, let me say that every description of the game i heard left me not understanding why i would want to purchase it. Let me just say, if you like pandemic, purchase this. . The best description i have heard (that best approximates the experience) is that playing pandemic legacy is like watching a season of a television show. By this i mean that as you play the game, the decisions made in the last game will effect all games going forward. Now you can not rewind the season, and it will continue on, so good luck! . . We are currently playing two copies of this game (thus have purchased it twice) as we wanted to play the game with another set of friends. . My one suggestion would be to have more then one player read the rule book as misunderstanding of rule nuance (or legacy deck card nuance) can lead to the game becoming too hard (or easy)"

SeaFall: A Legacy Game

Seafall is a 4x game (explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate) set in an "age of sail" world reminiscent of our world. In seafall, the world is starting to claw its way out of a dark age and has begun to rediscover seafaring technology. Players take on the role of a mainland empire that consults with a consortium of advisors to discover new islands, explore those islands, develop trade, send out raiding parties, take part in ship-to-ship combat, and more. Seafall evolves as the game is played, setting their grudges into the history of the game and building a different narrative at every table as players open up the world.

Dead of Winter Crossroads Game

This is a truly board game. If you have the time and patience to play it. With almost 100 or so pieces to set up and use, it can be a chose to set up, but it's well worth it. This meta co-op board game is great fun and is plenty of challenge for those who like to dedicate themselves to board games. In a post apocalyptic era where zombies are abundant, food, medicine and weapons are scarce, you truly need to strategize to pull resources and efforts to keeping your colony alive, completing crisis cards, and at the same time fulfilling your own secret object. Definitely worth a buy. But also, i'd recommend watching the youtube how-to video rather than reading the instruction manuals, and/or watching the tv series table-top (available on youtube) on how game play goes. Definitely helps get a good idea of what to expect.

Dead of winter: a crossroads game, the first game in this series, puts 2-5 players in a small, weakened colony of survivors in a world where most of humanity is either dead or diseased, flesh-craving monsters. Each player leads a faction of survivors with dozens of different characters in the game. Dead of winter is a meta-cooperative psychological survival game. This means players are working together toward one common victory condition - but for each individual player to achieve victory, he must also complete his personal secret objective. This secret objective could relate to a psychological tick that's fairly harmless to most others in the colony, a dangerous obsession that could put the main objective at risk, a desire for sabotage of the main mission, or (worst of all) vengeance against the colony! certain games could end with all players winning, some winning and some losing, or all players losing. Work toward the group's goal, but don't get walked all over by a loudmouth who's looking out only for his own interests! dead of winter is an experience that can be accomplished only through the medium of tabletop games. It's a story-centric game about surviving through a harsh winter in an apocalyptic world. The survivors are all dealing with their own psychological imperatives, but must still find a way to work together to fight off outside threats, resolve crises, find food and supplies and keep the colony's morale up. Dead of winter has players making frequent, difficult, heavily- thematic, wildly-varying decisions that often have them deciding between what is best for the colony and what is best for themselves.

What can i say? it really is that good. The only complaint i have is that the down time between turns can be rather long when/if players start to amass a lot of followers. Of course, being a cooperative game (traitor! ), you'll likely have a say in what others are doing and "down time" doesn't necessarily equate to "dead time" (ha! see how i did that? get it? dead? . Never mind. ). . My initial play through was with four players and it was kind of funny because we had to collect samples (recommended by the rules for first time players) and it started off pretty good. No one seemed to be trying to screw us over and we were all convinced that no traitor even existed. We were getting lucky and rolling well (to determine if we found samples on zombies we'd killed) up until the very end when suddenly we found we didn't have enough food. And our luck ran out on the rolls. Then several were bitten and started dropping like flies. . My only other complaint is in how to "win" the game. Basically, just surviving doesn't make you a winner (as a group). You have to survive and complete your secret mission. Don't complete both? you don't "win". Out of the four of us, we all did manage to survive but only one of is was able to also complete their secret mission and thus the winningest winner (the rest of us only winners in our own minds) walked away truly triumphant. . I guess that's not really a "complaint" as it didn't make the game "bad". It just made us realize that you have a lot to manage as a group and while some of us care about trying to feed survivors, take out the trash, keep the zombies at bay and just get through it all (! ) others are out to collect books or weapons. . Losers! . . Get the game, it really is fun. -Notice from A. Nicole, Mississippi

Dead of winter does a wonderful job of translating a co-op zombie survival game to a table top experience. Ive currently played with my roommates about 4 times now and we have decided the best way to play this game is with 4 people, after experimenting with 3 and 4. The "action die" concept of doing actions with your survivors is a really cool system and adds a bit of strategical depth. The main thing that holds this game back is that i feel there is a bit too much luck involved with this game, it involves alot of dice rolls and one bad roll could ruin any chance you have of winning the game. The main co-op objective with the additional secret objectives that may or may not be a betrayal objective make this game unpredictable and incredibly fun. After 4 playthroughs with this game im convinced of the replay value and recommend any fan of the zombie genre, or of table top games add this gem to their collection.

- M. FabianOh boy. This game is fairly difficult, but damn if it isn't a ton of fun. If you're like my group of friends you'll probably lose the first several games, but eventually the wins start coming in. Getting familiar with this game is part of the learning curve. While i do wish there were more objectives, characters, items, etc there is more than enough content here to last many games. My group has already played at least 20 games and we plan on playing many more. Well worth it if you like the zombie theme, or just want a mostly coop game that will put your ability to cope with things and survive to the test.

Lots of pieces and prep but a very tense, fun and entertaining game for a mature (not just the 'age' reference; i've gamed with many kids more mature than many "adults") audience. . Pros. - optional &/or chance traitor mechanic. - competitive co-op. . Cons. - might ruin real life relationships. - should really only play if you and your friends are in the mood to abuse & punish yourselves. . Things to know going in. - lots of pieces. - 5 to 10 min prep time (much greater if you don't sort and put things back in an organized manner) with experience players. - a very bleak setting (quite obvious from the game's premise), that is a fun and enjoyable experience by making 'less tragic' events feel like a triumphant victory. - you may want to pre-schedule some therapy sessions for post game recovey

Codenames

Codenames is a social word game with a simple premise and challenging game play. Two rival spymasters know the secret identities of 25 agents. Their teammates know the agents only by their codenames. The teams compete to see who can make contact with all of their agents first. Spymasters give one-word clues that can point to multiple words on the table. Their teammates try to guess words of their color while avoiding those that belong to the opposing team. And everyone wants to avoid the assassin. The game works very well with 4 players if you prefer to guess without help. Or you can add more players if you prefer lively discussion. There is also a cooperative variant where a single team tries to achieve the highest score they can by playing against the game itself.

Blood Rage

In blood rage, each player controls their own viking clanÍs warriors, leader, and ship. Ragnar k has come, and itÍs the end of the world! itÍs the vikingsÍ last chance to go down in a blaze of glory and secure their place in valhalla at odinÍs side! for a viking there are many pathways to glory. You can invade and pillage the land for its rewards, crush your opponents in epic battles, fulfill quests, increase your clan's stats, or even die gloriously either in battle or from ragnar k, the ultimate inescapable doom. Most player strategies are guided by the cards drafted at the beginning of each of the three game rounds (or ages). These ñgodsÍ giftsî grant you numerous boons for your clan including: increased viking strength and devious battle strategies, upgrades to your clan, or even the aid of legendary creatures from norse mythology. They may also include various quests, from dominating specific provinces, to having lots of your vikings sent to valhalla. Most of these cards are aligned with one of the norse gods, hinting at the kind of strategy they support. For example, thor gives more glory for victory in battle, heimdall grants you foresight and surprises, tyr strengthens you in battle, while the trickster loki actually rewards you for losing battles, or punishes the winner. Players must choose their strategies carefully during the draft phase, but also be ready to adapt and react to their opponentsÍ strategies as the action phase unfolds. Battles are decided not only by the strength of the figures involved, but also by cards played in secret. By observing your opponentÍs actions and allegiances to specific gods, you may predict what card they are likely to play, and plan accordingly. Winning battles is not always the best course of action, as the right card can get you even more rewards by being crushed. The only losing strategy in blood rage is to shy away from battle and a glorious death!

7 Wonders Duel Board Game

Wow! this is a great game! i have never played 7 wonders and simply bought this game based on the reviews. There is a reason it is rated so high! it is awesome. The variability and mechanics of this game are great. The instructions are fair. I read them several times and there were a handful of times i had to consult boardgame geek for clarity. No big deal. The components are also very good. The only problem i have is my wife keeps beating me:) i highly recommend this game. If you are new to 7 wonders, like i was, watch some tutorial videos on youtube. I found them very helpful. This is my new favorite game!

One of the most celebrated games in the world can now be experienced in a two-player arena. 7 wonders duel takes the game play and excitement of the original and adapts it for one-on-one battles. Take control of your civilization and decide to invest in science, military or prestige. Two new ways to win will keep you on your toes and watching every move your opponent makes. If you fail to build defenses your capital city may be destroyed, but ignore technology and your people may be left in the dark ages. It's a constant tug of war. 7 wonders duel is an exciting new way to play the game that took the world by storm. Great for both fans of the original and those new to the hobby.

7 Wonders Duel Board Game7-Wonders-Duel-Board-Game

See 7 Wonders Duel Board Game (Asmodee) FAQ.

This game is very well designed and balanced for 2 players as for the few games i played with it, it felt tense and a very tight pull on the balance as the advantage was quickly shifting to and fro. As much as you would play conservatively, the minor luck (cards revealing under taken cards) will always allow your opponent to disrupt any possible plans that you already cleverly conceived in your head. That to me is a delightful moment in a board game as you are always kept on your toes as you have to react with your own counterattacks to shift back the advantage. . Military and scientific victory are very hard to achieve and still it's fun trying to win by this way. Basically this 2 types of victory requires you to overwhelm your opponent by force (red buildings) or science (green buildings). It in a way forces your opponent to go for these 2 types even though typically they don't, a very different situation from the original 7w, where there is little penalty for ignoring either. It increases the pressure for the player from being overwhelmed. . Thematically, i love the wonders and what they do and generally you are building up your civilization in this ancient world. The artwork are beautiful and the icons delightful to look at. Another thing i liked is the mini-cards which represents your improvements, as i have limited table size and the card size makes it easier to organize. . There are many ways to gain points which might led you into a dilemma sometimes but the same way doesn't works every time as the cards sequence and/or your opponent also differs. The best play will come out for those players who can adapt best with what they have currently, and have a good foresight for the upcoming routes to take for the maximum points possible. This adaptive strategy trait of this game makes it very dynamic and active, which i always appreciate in a sit-down game of board game. . It plays in roughly 1 hour for me and my play-mate and it's always so satisfying. Certainly 1 of my top games in 2016. Recommended for those who loved the original 7w and have only a single friend to play it with. -Notice from C. Lewis, Telford and Wrekin

I really enjoy tabletop games that have been designed specifically for two players, and this is one of the best i've seen. The level of strategy that is packed into this fairly short game is pretty impressive (and for that reason, it's probably not the best fit for newbies looking for something extra light and quick). There is a somewhat overwhelming number of symbols, rules, and means by which a player can secure victory, but after a couple of playthroughs, this is no longer an issue. Once you become familiar with the rules and nuances, the beauty of the mechanics becomes evident. Meticulously balanced with an emphasis on multi-tasking and long-term strategy (i use that term liberally, since the game only lasts about 30-45 minutes), 7 wonders duel is fantastic from start to finish. You might be steadily inching your way toward a civilian or scientific victory, but your opponent's superior military threatens to undo all of your progress, so you've got to keep the process of fending them from the city gates in the back of your mind, too. This is a magnificient strategy game designed by people who are extremely talented at what they do. The excellent artwork (although the components are only of average quality) helps secure the theme, enhancing the fun factor. A must-own for couples who enjoy strategy games!

7-wonders-duel-board-game-(asmodee) set picture

- A. BentonWe've had the game for awhile now. I like it but don't love it. It plays with a lot of the same aspects as the original 7 wonders. Having a 2 player game is nice and the box is fairly small so we bring it to coffee shops to play sometimes although you do need a larger table to play on to be able to build the card pyramid. I am undefeated at the game still! my husband has almost refused to play with me. Ha! and i like games i win at. However one aspect that we both don't like is the green tokens or chips. We feel like there are a couple powerful ones maybe worth going for but overall we end up never even go for those and instead we trash the green cards for coins usually. I know they threw in the green scientology cards to try to match the original game but it just didn't work as well as we expected. But overall we still like the game but to be honest we probably prefer the 2 player all creatures big and small more as a two player game.

This is an excellent re-implementation of 7 wonders for two players. It retains all of the elegance of the original, while adding some new mechanics to balance the game for two players and add some interesting decision points. If you're familiar with the original 7 wonders, it's very quick to learn and plays in about 30 minutes. (if you're not familiar with 7 wonders, you may want to pick that up first, though it plays best with 3-7 players. ) 7 wonders has a two-player variant that was pretty decent, but a little clunky in that it used a third "neutral" player. This solves all of the problems of the two-player version of the original. There is no drafting anymore. Instead there is a card tableau, where cards on top are available and some of the cards are hidden. Now you have to consider not only which cards are best for you and your opponent, but you also must consider what cards you are giving them access to when you choose your card. You can peruse a scientific victory or a military victory (which happen as soon as certain goals are met), or go for the most points at the end of the game. The game so far seems very well balanced, strategic, quick, and fun. Everything i look for in a two-player game.

The F.A.Q. for Pandemic Legacy Red Board Game (Z Man Games)

This game is amazing. . Super important note: if you've never played pandemic wait on this. While the rule book in this version of pandemic states that you can technically use this version of the game to play the original i don't recommend it. While, yes, you technically can, you will find yourself frustrated and confused because there are a lot of extra pieces and things in the box for the legacy story mode, if possible you really would be best to just buy the original and have about 4-5 play through's before considering this. You need to understand the purpose and the mechanics of the original before attempting this. . With all that said and no spoilers: this game is absolutely phenominal. I don't take it lightly when i say this may be the best board game i've ever played (and i've played a lot). The depth is insane, the way the story progresses and the game evolves is insane and the way new dynamics are revealed is both realistic to what you would imagine a real-world virus outbreak would look like as well as very understandable as they get added. Plain and simple if you like the original, you'll love this. . One more super important note: it's extremely helpful if you play this with the same group of players through the whole season (not required but way more fun that way since everyone knows the story as it unfolds).

One of the best experiences we've had in a game in a long time. The 'legacy' elements really define the game and its as much of a story and an experience as it is a collection of gameplay mechanics. Truly unique and everyone should try it. I will caution those that aren't board gamers already, i feel like to really appreciate this game you have to play a lot of board games, that way you can really get a sense for how different/great this is compared to everything else. If this is your first board game you'll probably just think this is how all games are.

The big draw for me was the long-term consequences of one's decisions. Events and actions taken early in the campaign matter all the way to the end of the game. Plus, how often do you get a chance to have permanent component change during a campaign? destruction of components, additions, amendments, more additions - the little surprises with each month of play added a frisson of anticipation. It was the boardgame equivalent of an advent calendar, and i found that quite cool. . The price can be daunting, but look at it this way - divide it evenly among your core players, and it becomes quite affordable. . Drawback - this is a commitment of time. For best effect, all players involved really need to play through the entire campaign, which will be 12-24 full game sessions.

Pandemic is one of my family's favorite games, so when pandemic: legacy was announced in 2014 it immediately went to the top of my wishlist. Let's get the conclusion out of the way first: if you like pandemic, you will almost certainly love pandemic: legacy (with one caveat - see below). As of this writing, it's the second-highest ranked game on boardgamegeek. . If you're not familiar with pandemic, what you need to know is that it's a cooperative game - all players win or lose as a group. You take on the roles of various scientists working for the cdc, traveling around the world and dealing with epidemics. There are four diseases spreading through the world, and you must discover cures to all of them before it's too late. . Pandemic: legacy takes the base pandemic game and turns it into a campaign, where each game affects all the ones after it. Ignoring outbreaks if you're close to winning is no longer a smart move, because those outbreaks will make your life more difficult in the following months. The game takes place over the course of a (game) year: you play a game in january, and if you win, your next game will be february; if you lose, you play a second game in january (and then go to february regardless of the outcome). In this way, a full campaign will take between 12 and 24 games depending on how well you do. The legacy deck controls various events that come up; you simply draw cards from it until you reach a stop sign, which will tell you when to start drawing again (the first one says to draw it before playing your first game). At the start of play, the game is essentially the same as regular pandemic, but the cards will let you open envelopes and boxes with additional components, rules, and stickers. . Wait. Rules and stickers? yes, many things that happen during the game will require altering the board and rulebook by placing stickers. You'll write on cards. If things go badly, you'll tear up cards. I don't want to put spoilers in the review, so i won't tell you about what's coming up, but there have been more than a few cards that made me go "oh *" when i read them. Your decisions absolutely matter - not only will screwing up make future games harder, but making a good play can make future games a lot easier. You should have seen what our super-powered medic did in a recent game. . There's a story woven through the campaign, that explains everything that's going on (it doesn't just get more complicated for no reason - it gets more complicated for very good reasons). If you like theme in your games, they're really pouring it on. Not many games from the last few years have excited me, but pandemic: legacy does; it gives me the same feeling as the trauma center wii games did, where you're involved in a suspenseful story. . The one thing that seems to turn some people off is that this is a one-time-play game. You're putting stickers on the board. You're ripping up cards. At the end, you'll have a copy of pandemic which is unique to you alone. I've actually purchased two copies of the game because i expect i'll want to play it more than once - the two boxes differ only in the box design, and have the same contents (but red is clearly better ; -)). However, someone on boardgamegeek has uploaded a set of sticker files that will allow you to do a full reset if you so choose - just don't rip anything up and you can play through the whole campaign as many times as you like. But the designer has confirmed that he's already working on season 2.

My girlfriend and i played through this and we were absolutely hooked, literally dreaming about the game, until it was through. It really is an amazing experience, so unlike any table-top board game i've ever played before. Having finished our play-through, we're now in a sort of pandemic legacy withdrawal phase. "what do we do now? " they've tantalized us with that "season 1" label on the box, so maybe there's hope, eventually, for us to get our fix. Anyway, here are some thoughts from our experiences:. . Works great for two players. I was a little worried at first that it might be more properly designed for four players, but no, it's eminently playable by two. And, frankly, a great game for couples, since you're working and collaborating together. . Be careful with the rules. One small downside is it's very easy to miss a rule here or there. The rulebook, to some extent, seems to assume some knowledge of the basic pandemic game. We played a few practice games before beginning the "legacy" rules, and it's definitely worth doing so. In fact, we lost our practice games, but had a nice string of wins once we started the legacy rules, so the practice was good for that reason too. . Avoid spoilers. Although i enjoyed reading other people's accounts of their play-through, i was careful to read the months that we had already completed, rather than looking at spoilers. It turned out to be well-worth it. The game has some twists that are pretty epic and you'll really get the full experience of it if you don't see them coming. Also, we enjoyed many conversations speculating as to what was coming and trying to prepare for it. We were sometimes right and sometimes wrong, and that's really part of the game. . Don't be turned off by the destructive "one play" aspect of legacy rules. Really, it's worth it. It's a bit like watching a movie you love or tv-show you love. It's true, once you've seen it, you've seen it, and you can't recover that first experience of not knowing what's coming, but that doesn't lessen the experience. . Play carefully! one of the things we noticed was that as the series of games went on, we were going slower and slower with each game. Part of that may have been increasing complexity of the rules, but mostly it was us taking more time to plan our moves carefully. The desire to win our final month kept growing as it approached, particularly with all the work preparing for it. . Anyway, if you take the plunge, i know you'll enjoy it. Unquestionably, one of the best game purchases i've ever made.

I have never played pandemic before, or any legacy board games. Got this to play with some old high school buddies, and we all loved it. We're going to start the first legacy month january next month. This is going to be giving us a great reason to meet up at least once a month. Definitely looking forward to the second season, and i am probably going to have to look for some other legacy games to get to play with my friends. The cost is definitely not bad either. Breaking it down to at least 12 legacy games it costs like 5$ a game. Pretty worth it to me.

This game is incredibly fun! if you like pandemic in general, and if you like bigger games that sometimes change as you go (like betrayal on house on the hill) then you may love this! the only downside is that because the game changes each time you play, it's best to find a core group of people (up to 4 total) who will consistently want to play the game each month with you. It's possible to change players in the middle, but i think you lose something with it if you do. Also, because the game permanently changes as you go, when you finish or if you want to play with an entirely different group from the start then you'd have to buy another copy. That did delay me for awhile in buying this the first time, but it really is so much fun to play, and keeps you at the edge of your seat as each event happens. It's really a worthwhile game!

Wow! my kids got this for me christmas 2015, and we have been playing it this year as defined in the rules. Oh yes, 'the rules', they are intricate and i am only able to keep up with every detail because this is a cooperative game. So far we have won 7 out of 10 playing sessions and succeeded to meet our objectives all but one month. (the faded figures caught us off guard and has proved to be our biggest challenge since 'invading' the yellow region. ). Enough about our problems. This is a bit of advice to you: learn how to play pandemic (we also expanded our original game set with on the brink and in the lab) before even thinking about legacy. And play the game with a team you can work with. Read the rules closely and read them again before each playing session. Make sure everyone remembers the details about their character and their relationship with others. Believe me when i say that every detail will have an influence on whether you win or lose. Yes, some details will hurt you, but more often than not you will find yourself in dire straits if you ignore, forget or simply overlook a minute instruction that was intended to help. Do we recommend this game? highly! are you capable of winning? that depends on you and the draw of the cards. Draw two epidemic cards back to back and it will test your mettle to its limits. Run or you will be scarred for life. Utilize your capabilities or your team will suffer. Don't think for a moment that you have things under control. Outbreaks will be your ruination if you don't plan for every contingency. May i remind you, this is pandemic at its worst or should i say its best. ? . . Adding my end of year note: we finished the game and saved the world for future generations. Based on the scoring tiers at the end of the game we finished just shy of the top level. This was a family night for the entire year 2016 and it was a challenge, but every episode enjoyable. Still a five star game for our group!

T. Rita, Bayern

Great game! we have never played pandemic before and absolutely love this game. Definitely recommend playing the base/vanilla version before jumping straight into legacy. I actually spent a few days reading the rule book and reviewing forums online to make sure we had the rules down. We have never played an rpg game before, but my wife, our teen age son, and i have played every night for two weeks. I highly recommend getting this game and get away from the tv. Cant wait for season 2.

D. Gina, Northamptonshire says

An incredible, if incredibly stressful, cooperative gaming experience. It's the best time i've had playing a cooperative game of any kind, computer, video, or board, bar none. We lost a game and it took two months to build up the courage to go back, such was the magnitude of our guilt. It's fascinating and amazingly tense. . The only knock against it is that it's not as good for groups with players of mixed skill level, as players who are good at the game will start bossing around players who aren't. Otherwise, though, it can be recommended to anyone.

W. Cageen, Missouri

Up front, i have played the original pandemic so our group was fairly accustomed to the base rules. If you played the original pandemic, especially if you have a regular gaming group (2-4), i would highly encourage you to consider this. . If you haven't played the original pandemic, i would still suggest it, though there will be a learning curve that hopefully the mechanics curve to your benefit later. Possibly play it to cure the four diseases a few times (base game), escalating the number of infection cards in the player deck to get the idea. Then when ready, accept the "training" is over and see what happens. . There are minor spoilers below. . I bought this for friends, and we've played through the first two of twelve "months". The first month is more or less like the original game. We struggled a bit with a few different elements of the design:. 1) destruction of components - this is a thing. This is not a board game designed around infinite replayability. It's designed around giving you a great gaming experience. Getting over this was hard. 2) when to open the rule options - we thought based on what we read in the rule book that occurred after the first game, rather than being patient and accepting this occurs when told to. This seemed less than clear. 3) *read* the entire text. We missed the bottom half of the first card that said "stop" and there was a word "until". Had to do some finagling to rewind and get us back on track. . So struggles aside, this has been a great experience. Every decision in regular pandemic can mean the difference between winning and losing. In legacy season 1, every decision has that little bit of extra weight where, it might not just hurt the current game, but it might hurt later games. When having to make the decision of "do we rush to save the city already in turmoil, or do we accept them as a casualty to try and eradicate a disease". It's awesome. When new rules show up, or old rules evolve? it changes how you look at the board. I would like to think we're doing great with only minor turmoil on the board, but going into month 3 we have zero funding because "obviously we have things under control" - -. . Can't wait.

V. Lawrence, Tennessee says

Permanent changes to the game make you think before making any moves. It's sad to remember that there are only a limited number of plays, but the dynamic is so different. And the game is full of twists and turns with the possibility of unlocking something awesome or horrible during or after every game. Keeping the diseases under control while trying to complete the objectives is not easy, and you should not expect to win every game. The game does have a nice method of self-balancing to make sure it is always challenging, but not impossible. Hopefully you can get it when it's on sale for around $50 on online store.

F. Elizabeth, North East Lincolnshire

This game is a game that has revolutionized board gaming for me. . Now you can not rewind the season, and it will continue on, so good luck! . . We are currently playing two copies of this game (thus have purchased it twice) as we wanted to play the game with another set of friends. . My one suggestion would be to have more then one player read the rule book as misunderstanding of rule nuance (or legacy deck card nuance) can lead to the game becoming too hard (or easy)

V. Williams, North Tyneside says

This game is absolutely amazing. My boyfriend and i just started playing it and have finished through february of the "12 month" campaign so far, and when i woke up this morning, the first thing i said to him was "i want to play more pandemic. ". . We had never played pandemic before, so we did a few practice rounds first without the legacy rules in effect. Feeling pretty comfortable with it, we moved ahead in the campaign. Opening the special boxes and putting stickers on the board feels like christmas. The first time it told us to destroy a card, we looked at each other wondering who was going to be brave enough to rip it up. The way new cards are entered into play, with rules changing permanently (or at least seemingly permanently) as you go, objectives changing and adding on to one another, makes each game a unique experience with changing strategy. There are funded events, characters added into play, upgrades and scars added to characters, mutations added to the diseases, and at the end of each game, depending on whether you won or lost, your funding either goes up or down, which will make the next game either easier or harder. I don't know how anyone could go back to regular pandemic after this. . At first i hadn't wanted to buy both pandemic and pandemic legacy, but now i think i understand the need for both. As the game's board changes and is modified, i think we'll need a regular pandemic board (and the expansions! ) for playing afterward. Though maybe we'll need to keep some of the new modifications we learned in legacy? only time will tell. . Next week, i'm starting a new legacy campaign with four players. I'm hoping that is even more exciting (will report back soon), but for now, i'm happy to have found a complex and engaging co-op game for two players. . Update:. And for people wondering if you can start over with the legacy campaign after you finish the 12 months, my feeling is that the answer is no. Even if you don't destroy cards, some of the changes are somewhat permanent, adding new rules at certain stages or placing new stickers over the old ones. Each time there is an outbreak in a city, it gets a sticker permanently leveling it from 1-5 (rioting to destroyed) which changes the play. So even without destroying cards, you're using the stickers. I don't think you could play through it again after you finish as the 12-month campaign, but i figure it is likely that whatever state the game is in by month 12, you can keep playing that campaign over and over.

B. Mahood, Indiana

I got this in the blue box because i have always loved board games but am married to a wonderful woman who is not generally a fan of the complex gaming style that i usually prefer. Boardgamegeek. Com had rated this their number one game so i decided to give it a shot and ask for it for my birthday knowing that my family and friends would be more inclined to play if it were my birthday present. This game is amazing and they really enjoy playing it as well! even though i grew up playing games like risk, monopoly, axis and allies, heroquest, and battle masters this is my favorite board game of all time, and we're only through march! . I'm hooked. I re-connected with my childhood best friend and gaming buddy and bought the red box in order to play with him, my daughter, and his boy as a second group. I also purchased the regular pandemic game and on the brink expansion so that my wife, daughter, and i can play as a family to further limit time in front of the television. I love the cooperativeness that the game demands and the encouragement of team-building skills. It adds a different dynamic of working together that we don't normally experience as a family, which teaches me more about my daughters personality and our intra-personal relations in the home. I even made a soundtrack for the game using others recommendations and coupled it with news breaks of viral outbreaks every 3-5 minutes. Unfortunately, after trying it once my wife felt it made the game too tense. The game mechanics are ingenious. The way you periodically re-shuffle the cards where any outbreaks have already happened and place them back on top of the infection pile, introducing further risk to already problem areas, makes the game feel alive. Matt leacock, thank you so much for this.
