Good pressed board board game with plastic checkers pieces. Was able to play 3-4 times before pieces began to disappear. That is the reason for extra checker pieces (available at online store) and my purchase of wooden checkers pieces (also available at online store). But keeping board games for a child requires a much more sturdy game board and piece storage system - nothing quite like that available at a bargain rate, but i did find the wooden chess, checkers, and backgammon set that is adequate. It's yahtzee! got this for my friend's son for his birthday. He has played yahtzee before, but only on his tablet and again the computer. . So far he likes it - not thrilled that he has to do the math for the score himself. A fun after dinner game when you need a break from the tv.

I bought two of these for centers in my classroom. I wrote numbers on each set of pieces and the kids play to reach 10, 15, or 20. It teaches them math fact fluency and it teaches them strategy because as much as they are trying to win by getting to 10 first, they have to pay attention to what their opponent is doing, because they need to anticipate their moves and block them when needed. We absolutely love this game! the sad part is that the world has become accustomed to cheaply made products. Unfortunately, this is just a price we have to pay if we want affordable products. Hasbro has done a wonderful job ensuring that connect 4 continues to be a part of our lives, but if you're looking for the sturdy game you had when you were a kid, this one falls a little short. The rack is flimsy and made of thin plastic, and the discs lack that heavy checker weight, but they totally work. Just mentioning it for the people who are nostalgic, this game just feels a little different. Our kids don't know the difference and it certainly doesn't matter when you measure the memories that were making with them, but it is nice to remember some of the differences from when we were kids.

- Z. MeyerAlthough, we have not been able to play the game as intended, it has been fun. My grand children 5yrs, 3yrs and 10 months are fascinated by the game. It is usually the first game they choose. Eddy, 3year old, plays to win by getting his color to the last place at the top. I have been able to teach him the concept of "taking turns" and "no cheating". It is fun and i am glad that i bought this game.

This classic game is of marginal interest to my 4-year-old, but as she gets better at seeing the patterns, she'll like it more. The new legs and flip-switch to drop the pieces are solid enough. No complaints!

The wooden tile pieces make a nice tactile change from the white plastic we've become accustomed to and the colours and design are refreshing. . We've used it several times and had no issues with the materials or longevity of the board. . This was excellent value for the price and i'd happily buy this again.

I noticed that the product images show two different editions - one with wooden benches, and one with plastic red benches. After reading some of the reviews i thought i'd get the wooden set, but unfortunately i did not. Just fyi - not all the sets they ship are the same. . Pros:. 1. Original color scheme, with pink dw, red tw, light blue dl and dark blue tl. Some of the modern sets use different colors which i find ugly (i've been playing scrabble for a long time and am somewhat set in my ways). 2. Big bold tile lettering. Bigger than most sets i've seen. I like it. 3. Tile distribution references on the board, one facing up and another copy facing down so two players can both read it easily. 4. Game tiles are wooden, not plastic. 5. It's scrabble! . . Cons:. 1. Red plastic benches are cheap and ugly. 2. No score sheet included. . Overall, a solid, simple copy of scrabble for cheap. I ordered this game to use at the monthly "secret headquarters comics and games for everyone off-site game night" in tallahassee. (yeah, it's a long name, but now brian, our genial host, owes me one! ) anyway, i brought scrabble, mainly because i did not know how to play any of the other games. . When we opened it up, i think we were all expecting the look and feel of the "classic" scrabble of our childhoods. You know, heavy, smooth finished tiles and tile racks and a game board that felt like it could take years of carting around and gaming. . This game is sort of a lightweight version. Everything is there, but it's just feels a bit small and less substantial . The tiles and racks have minimal finish on them, and the board is thinner. . Now, as far as playing, this is a fine set. However, do not be expecting the original-feeling scrabble game. I think if you want the truly "classic" set, you have to spend a little more. . Why 4 stars: the product lives up to its description (if not my nostalgic expectations). The price is right, and online store delivered in a timely manner. . Problem: this may be an isolated problem; however, one of the tile racks was missing. When i alerted online store to this, as per its usual excellent customer service, it immediately arranged a replacement game to be sent to me. That's another reason for 4 stars-i love good customer service. . Btw, i learned to play two new games last friday: flux and ticket to ride europe. And by "learned, " i mean that i lost my shirt. I will have to see if online store carries these games, so i can catch up on some of this new-fangled stuff! . . Update-24 hrs. - Q. JarvisI grew up playing scrabble and always loved it. Sadly my daughter recently told me that we seriously dropped the ball in her board game education. Online store to the rescue, i ordered the game and it was delivered the very next day. I can happily say we have played many games of scrabble and she loves it just as much as i do. The board is a little flimsy but you just have to be careful. I love the drawstring bag to keep the letters in and the plastic letter stand work just as good as the old wooden ones.

Scrabble was always a classic when i was a kid and i enjoyed playing it with my mom. I was looking for games for our family game nights that we don't already have that would be good for my 7 yo, he enjoys it and it is also educational at solving and spelling. He has to think a bit to figure out how to use other tiles to connect for words. He loves it.
