Answer: This new version uses batteries only which is great since it makes the game much more mobile to take to things like tailgate parties or camping.

Answer: No, it comes standard with one but tudor does sell additional remotes (controllers) and there does exist a dual connector (radio shack or similar store) so they can both be connected together. Also, it is not really a remote, it is a controller that is hardwired to the motor under the board.

Fun game, reminds me of the old metal/magnetic one they had back in the day. These are more controllable but the players don't stay on the field due to the lack of magnets. (the playing field is plastic not sheet metal)
